  • What do we know about Aquarius?Aquarius is the 11th sign of the zodiac. As the eleventh sign of the zodiac, Aquarius represents the eleventh stage in the evolution of man and his place in the universe. In Aquarius, the individuality of man so carefully nurtured in Leo, now becomes part of the greater spectrum of society as a whole.

  • The Aquarius Myth

  • This myth contains many themes which are profoundly important to the deepest meaning of Aquarius. The noble impulseHis paymentTo Aquarius, knowledge is always superior to blind faith. Aquarius has no room for superstitious devotion; and he also has no patience for unexplained authority. To him, all individuals at the end should be their own ultimate judges. And he will, if necessary, defy the gods to obtain their secrets.

  • Seed Thought for AquariusWater of life I am, poured forth for thirsty men.

For those of you who are not familiar with esoteric philosophy or do not know it well I will remind you that all is energy. Thus you should simply relax and try to feel the energy rather then concern yourself with knowing all of the words.

During the lecture you can ask questions or make comments. After the meditation we will gather for coffee/tea and you may also ask questions. The time of the full moon is a time of celebration.

We celebrate the energy of the SUN.

The reason is that when the Moon is full it is the furthest from the Sun, thus the Suns energy is the strongest.

Thus we celebrate the energy of the Sun through meditation and reflection.Your Sun may not be in Aquarius, but you may have another planet - or the Moon - or the Ascendant in Aquarius.

And even if you do not have anything in Aquarius energy will still affect you - and, perhaps, as importantly, those around you. In my case I have my Ascendant in Aquarius and my mothers Sun sign was Aquarius.

For example, presently Neptune is in Aquarius, having moved in on January 28, 1998. The last period of Neptune in Aquarius was 1834-1848so its actually unlikely you have Neptune in Aquarius.

Can anyone remember what was happening in Europe during this period?

This period witnessed the rise of Romanticism, a reaction against the conventions and restraints of classicism. It was the dominant note in the artistic and intellectual life of Europe. Aquarius promotes the concept of society in general, but with Neptunes influence, this concept was dissolved and completely reversed as Romanticism emphasized the glorification of the individual against society as a whole.Add to 3rd point - Capricorn sets up the structure and rules of society, and Aquarius takes on the role of making the organizations of society function as the people-oriented institutions they were intended to be.

The symbol for Aquarius is the Water Bearer, symbolically and eternally giving life and spiritual food to the world. The water from the vessel washes away the past, leaving room for a fresh, new start. The sign of Aquarius is forward-looking and growth-oriented. Concerned with equality and individual freedom, Aquarius seeks to dispense its knowledge, and its vision of equality and individuality, to all.

The water is seen as mankinds collective consciousness. It depicts Aquarians as disseminators of the spirit of humanity. The glyph for Aquarius depicts the water from the water bearer's vessel, as a symbol of open-ended spiritual energy. There is one figure in ancient mythology who epitomizes the destiny and the meaning of Aquarius. That figure is Prometheus, who stole fire from the gods. His inspiration and his suffering are part of the Aquarian myth.

Zeus, King of the Gods, was jealous of he aptitudes and abilities of mortal men. So he withheld from them the use of fire - the symbol of creative spirit - would have made them too much like the gods.

The noble impulse is the brightest face of the sign - a selfless impulse, from which Prometheus can expect no personal gain. His gift was given because he saw the potential of the as yet undeveloped human race, and because he felt it unfair that their own potential divinity should be withheld from them.

His payment is also important to the psychology of the sign, for it implies that the gift of fire - whether we interpret it as knowledge, creative power, recognition of godhood - costs dear. Nature resents her secrets plundered, or, putting it another way, the gods do not like to share their divinity.

An echo of the Prometheus myth may be found in the myth of the Garden of Eden, where God jealously guards his godhood by forbidding Adam and Eve to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil - and the tree of life - lest they become like gods. Prometheus is also the serpent, the goad which insists that knowledge is better than blind faith.

Pandora, who opens the forbidden box and releases the entire array of human ills and sufferings, along with Hope. Here too one can read the deeper meaning of Aquarius.

With his probing intellect and his curiosity about life, he often causes more destruction than good, for his inventions and his insights give us powers we are ill-equipped to handle. But with Aquarius there is also always hope, for he has a deep and ingrained faith in human potential and human nature.

This is partly why so many Aquarians favour a democratic or socialist system of government - they believe that ultimately the individual is capable of his own choices and of a noble concern for his fellow man.Whether Aquarius is right or wrong in his conjecture is an issue that continues to rage in every country of the world. But from the viewpoint of this idealistic sign, there is always hope.

The difficulty in mentioning the energy of any particular sign is that each of us has many energies influencing us. One energy is certainly the sun sign we are born in, but there are many other energies. Some of these would be the the other astrological elements, our karmic history, our rays, our heritage, etc. And then to confuse the issue more there is the energies of the transiting and progressed planets.

Additionally there is no best or worse energy.

There is no good or bad energy - as there are not good or bad tools.

In astrology we refer (or should refer) to the energies associated with planets, houses, signs, and the relationships between them as non-challenging or challenging. The main challenge, as with each of the astrology energies, is to use the energies in a positive way. To think above the belt. To be the enlightened being. To turn the challenging aspects into non-challenging ones. Many Aquarians are idealists who champion the highest principles to which humanity can aspire. However they are also extremely independent thinkers. When confronted with authoritarian demands or dogmatic principles to which they do not subscribe, they rebel. They may hesitate to take the initiative at times, but once they decide a situation or idea is worthwhile, they become involved and aggressive in pushing it forward. They don't mind being asked to do something but they resent being told to do it. Those who want to gain their favor will help share the work load without being asked. Both will provide the know how to bring an abstract vision into reality.

Saturn is the planet which conditions primarily the point in evolution where choice definitely becomes possible, where rejection of opportunity or its acceptance can consciously be undertaken, and the shouldering of personal responsibility becomes a recognized fact in a planned and ordered l
