RAY’S GAME

Each year we have a family gathering for our members at a Ray’s baseball game, and this year it will be June 15th. The Rays will play the Angels. Go Rays!! This year’s game is sold out! Vendors and sponsorships are always welcome and need to contact Randy Shane, at [email protected], vendor chair. Again, this is an annual event, so if you missed out, we’d love to have you next year, as a sponsor or just an attendee. However, JUST does not really apply! Our Vendors, Sponsors, and Member are all VERY important to this organization and to the public. Thank you!

FLORIDA CHAPTER EXPO

The Florida Chapter held its Expo in Daytona Beach this past April. The APWA National President David Lawry, came for the entire event, not just a day. It was a pleasure meeting and having him at the Expo.

Our branch received four awards! Congratulations to William Anderson, and the West Coast Branch, for receiving Diversity Exemplary Practice Awards, individual and branch.

Also, Jennifer Nolan and her DRMP Company won the Consultant of the Year! Our District Representative, Bob Nowak, won the Anthony W. Leffin – Lifetime Achievement Award.

NATIONAL PUBLIC WORKS WEEK

National Public Works Week – Many communities recognize the work of our Public Works staff with Proclamations and activities. Here’s what we did in Safety Harbor.Safety Harbor’s Mayor, Joe Ayoub, presented a proclamation on May 20, 2019, to the City’s Public Works Department thereby proclaiming May 19th thru May 25, 2019 as “National Public Works Week” in the City of Safety Harbor. This proclamation was presented and read aloud during a city commission meeting, where the Public Works Director thanked his staff and all Public Works employ-ees for their service, while showing a PowerPoint presentation of their accom-plishments throughout the year. The Public Works Department had a family cookout at their complex where the families of our workers could share in the celebration and learn, first hand, what we do, and the equipment we use, (Touch-A-Truck), enjoy the food and participate in activities.

City Manager attempts a rodeo move! Food and friends
