New DelhiJapanese conglomerate Mitsubishi Corporation is seeking Indian expertise and has lined up mega investment plans, which its president and CEO Ken Kobayashi intends to discuss with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his key cabinet ministers. .Apart from a joint venture with TCS, the largest Japanese trading firm is looking for a partner to launch light commercial vehicles in India, a segment that is booming with players such as Tata, Mahindra and Piaggio currently ruling the market. In addition, Mitsubishi looking to import shale gas based liquefied natural gas into India, again a segment where there is a lot of demand given the low production levels in the country . Staring with its acquisition of shale gas assets in British Columbia, the Japanese company is now looking to expand into Asia. “We are aiming to grab demand related to the American shale gas revolution, as well as business opportunities in Southeast Asia and India,“ Mitsubishi Chemical CEO Yoshimitsu Ko bayashi has said in May. The other item on Kobayashi's agenda is to discuss possible investments in the Delhi-Mumbai and Chennai-Bangalore industrial corridors.. Further, he is expected to talk about mining rock phosphate in Peru in partnership with Zuari Industries. “Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) and Indian fertilizer manufacturer Zuari Industries Ltd (Zuari) have acquired a stake in Fasfatos del Pacifico SA (FOSPAC) from a major Peruvian cement manufacturer, Cementos Pacasmayo SAA (Pacasmayo). So, we are already working with an Indian partner in this venture. The expectation is that the venture will contribute to providing a stable supply of services to growing world markets including, but not limited to, India,“ a Mitsubishi spokesperson said in response to a questionnaire from TOI. Currently , the company has a tie up to sell some of its vehicles in India in partnership with Hindustan Motors, while Mitsubishi Electric also has a presence in the country .Kobayashi is the latest Japanese CEO to visit India since the new government took charge. Last month Japanese garment retailer Uniqlo met Modi and informed him about his company's plans to set up a chain of retail outlets and indicated that the number could be as high as 1,000 in the coming years.

New Delhi:TNNSouth Korea has approached the Rajasthan government for an industrial zone in Neemrana while Japan has asked for a second unit in the same area, developments that are expected to trigger a fresh round of investment in the area and bolster government's efforts to build industrial clusters. The two countries have approached the BJP government at a time when the Narendra Modi government has assumed office at the Centre and is aiming to initiate measures to revive the manufacturing sector and create jobs. Sources said South Korea is keen to develop a zone in the Neemrana segment which is emerging as a vital industrial hub as it is part of the Delhi-Mumbai industrial corridor..Japan, already has an industrial zone in Neemrana where several top notch Japanese groups have set up base, also triggering a real estate boom in the once sleepy town on the way to Jaipur. The Rajashtan government is set to give 500 acres for the second Japanese zone in Ghiloth, which is around 1012 km from the highway , said a top-ranking government officer. Even the Koreans are expected to get land for the zone in the same area, where 2000 hectares have been identified for the zones. The availability of land and developed infrastructure in the state has attracted investments from Japan while South Korean companies which are large players in the domestic market are keen to get a larger share and would prefer to have manufacturing bases in India.

Government of Rajasthan has declared Neemrana as Global City with different countries hoping to set up their Industries sooner Construction has started on Dry port alongside DMIC with their last station at Vasai Road in Maharashtra. IT is a $90 billion infra project coming up with the financial and technical aid from Japan with a 26% equity.
