The April editorial by Yoeri Khyrian Jonker for The Lavish World. Inspired by his recent illness, the photoshoot looks through the eyes of someone with photophobia. Eyes are blood red, and throughout the day everything in sight is covered with a white haze. The night is a place where every detail becomes clear. "The red of the eyes, the black of the night and the specific white haze; the whole photoshoot, in styling and editing, is based on these specific colours," explains Jonker on the unconventional colour scheme of the editorial.

I’ve been away for some time, it’s true. And when nothing new comes out every day, people will forget you. The thing is, things have changed. I got ill, had a heavy fever and at the end of it all had my eyes so heavily infected that I went blind for three hours.
And then I saw again.
Starting fresh from this month I have some amazing things in store. For instance this editorial and editors note. It’s important for me that The Lavish World is perceived as a blog with a journalistic approach. It’s that exact reason why I shiver everytime I get called a blogger. The Lavish World is not the same as all those lookbook bloggers that post their outfit everyday for the fame, glory and shallow compliments from thirsty readers. Yes, ironically, this editors note contains pictures of myself, just like any other lookbook blogger. The reason for that is because we want to bring print and digital closer, give websites the wonderful feeling of a magazine. Another difference is that the
brands represented in all our shoots are all brands I believe in and who I feel the readers have to know about. I have a personal connection with all of them and know their whole history, because I research every brand before I decide to work with them. It’s what journalism is about: bringing depth into a society that pushes products just because they’re sponsored. Everyone has a price, everyone has an opinion, everyone has an answer, but who asks the questions?
