The Young Artists Workshop is a series of spring workshops sponsored by The Urbana Free Library and the Urbana Public Arts Program.

Join us at our Young Artist’s Studio, featuring Navajo artist and educator Beverly Smith! Beverly will lead us through a storytelling and arts workshop featuring Baje Whitethorne’s Sunpainters. Youth will hear a story and be guided through creating artworks inspired by stories of their own.

Today’s concert features some of the most talented and in-demand performers in the area: Brad Wheeler, Armand Beaudoin, Dorothy Martirano, and Jim Pryor. The musicians have strong and diverse backgrounds in classical, contemporary art music, jazz, and Latin jazz with folk, gypsy, gypsy jazz, tango, and klezmer.

Join the Knights of Cabiria for a one-of-a-kind concert for families, featuring high-energy dance music from Latin American and Eastern European countries.Prairie Breezes concerts are on the first Saturday of most months and are generously sponsored by Peggy and Bob Podlasek in memory of Greg Bliss.

First Fridays Family Concert with Bones Jugs

A Poetry Reading by the Quintessential Poets

Bones Jugs presents an eclectic spin on American styles from bluegrass to ragtime. The band may feature xylophone, banjo, guitar, upright bass, jug, bones, clarinet, kazoos, whistles, horns, and washboard. Good for listening, dancing, and foot tapping!

Come hear original work by members of the Quintessential Poets — all published writers from the Champaign-Urbana area who meet regularly to critique each other’s work. The readers will be Frank Modica, John Palen, Elaine Palencia, and Pat Simpson. This is their third reading at the The Urbana Free Library, and it is open and free to the public

Refreshments will be available.

The Library will be open until 8:00 p.m. for this special Imbibe Urbana event!

UFLive! concerts are generously sponsored by The Urbana Free Library Foundation and are scheduled on the third Sunday of most months.

Readings by members of the Red Herring Fiction Workshop, Champaign-Urbana’s longest-running writing workshop.The Red Herring Fiction Workshop has been meeting at the Channing Murray Foundation on the University of Illinois campus every Tuesday at 7:15 p.m. since 1980. Writers at every level are welcome.

Want to try your hand at painting your very own masterpiece? The Library will provide all the supplies, some ideas, how-to books and relaxing music to summon your painting muse!
