Hey there, Jet! Welcome to the 2014-2015
term! If you guys aren’t already familiar with who
I am, my name is Allen Pham and I am serving
as your District Treasurer this year. I am cur-
rently a junior attending La Quinta High School
and I absolutely love history, frozen yogurt, and
Taylor Swift. When I am not out doing something
for KIWIN’S or ASB, I enjoy relaxing in my room
with a good ol’ Calculus FRQ packet and a
playlist full of emotional, gut-wrenching music.
Anyway, enough about me. My KIWIN’S experi-
ence would have not been amazing for the past
three years if I weren’t a part of my Jet ohana! I
am so grateful to able to serve you fellow KI-
WINNER’S along with Manuel for the upcoming
year; I have great confidence that Jet will con-
tinue to be amazing as it already is. So, don’t
ever hesitate to say hi, talk to me, and get to
know me. I promise I don’t bite and I’ll be more than happy to answer any questions that
you manatees have for me! I look forward to meeting all of you in the near future!
Always making it rain,
Allen Pham 2014-2015 District Treasurer
P. S. Shout out to my Jet treasurers (Kathy, Brian, Kenny, Brandon, Kevin, Katya, and Cha-rissa): You are all awesome, I love you, and I wish you the best of luck in all your fundraising endeavors! Let me know if you ever need help!

Whassup in Jet In order to show our sup-port for kids’ education, La Quinta KIWIN’S volun-teered at the Newport Mesa Spirit Run on March 23rd, 2014! It was a very cold and cloudy day for LQ KIWIN’S members, perfect for volunteering! Members checked in and grabbed their blue volunteer shirts, ready to help. Most of the members were assigned to the various water stations along the course, cracking open the many water bottle cases for the runners. Some were cheerleaders and route coordinators during the race. Others were helping out at the main festival area at the food booth! All of the members had a blast helping out during this event and it was all for a good cause too. -Jessica Tran, La Quinta KIWIN’S IP Vice President
Los Amigos KIWIN’S members volunteer whether sunshine, snow, sleet, or hail, and March 1st was no exception. Despite the pouring rain, members made their way to the Orange Country Food Bank’s
warehouse to make a difference in the community. Working side-by-side to the beat of the music playing around the warehouse, volunteers packed fruit boxes. KIWINNERS split off into different groups: opening fruit boxes, putting pears and avocados in bags, and lifting the boxes to certain stations. A friendly competition was created between all of the organizations present that day. We all wanted to pack as many fruit bags as we could. Everyone had a great time packing fruit and LAHS KIWIN’S looks forward to participat-ing in this event again. -Katherine Pham, Los Amigos KIWIN’S IP President
On Saturday March 15th,
2014, Edison KIWIN’S
volunteered at Bob’s Ice
Cream Fundraiser for
the Earth Resource
Foundation at Orange
County Marketplace. At
9:30 in the morning, we
arrived at the OC Fair-
grounds to prepare for our duties. First, some of us signed
in other volunteers to help with selling ice cream. Others cut
out fliers to advertise the fundraiser and passed them out at
the entrances, raising awareness for our cause. We sold $3
hand-dipped ice cream bars with 100% of the proceeds go-
ing to the Earth Resource Foundation, helping educate oth-
ers on how they can make sustainable choices and
changes for the environment. Although it was a hot, sweaty
day, it was worth it to help fundraise and finish the day by
browsing the swap meet and joking around. -Michelle Hwang, Edison KIWIN’S Vice President
On the morning of Saturday March 8th, Marina KI-WIN'S helped the Huntington Beach Tree Society by mulching a section of Central Park. The event lasted for three hours and by the time we were done with the job, everybody had instant muscles to be put to use for future events! A nice woman named Jean supplied Marina with shovels, gloves, snacks, and water. Upon arriving, we went straight to work. Marina enjoyed the Tree Planting event very much because it directly helped our community. To this day, if one goes to the back of Kathy May's Restaurant in Central Park, he or she will see beautiful trees that make our environment a better place to live in. Marina KIWIN'S is proud to have contributed to this.
-Christine Chau, Marina KIWIN’S President

Whassup in Jet On Friday, March 14th, Ma-rina KIWIN'S members took time out of their lunch to clean up the inner Marina campus. We experienced a very productive 30 minute event! After making 3 rounds around the bowl, 2 trash bags were filled and the members were happy to help. It was the perfect event for members who are unable to attend weekend
events and for members that want to help out the school in any way possible! We look forward to helping our school in the near future because it was a successful, fun,
and convenient event to go to!
-Christine Chau, Marina KIWIN’S President
On the bright and early morning of Saturday, March 15th, Fountain Valley KIWINNER’S participated in a Fun Run/Walk that benefited the 3rd battalion and the 1st marines. Al-though the members were a little tired and cold, they quickly started to work on their jobs assigned by the
task coordinators. Before the run, Fountain Valley KIWIN’S as well as the other clubs helped cut out the fruit that was going to be passed out to the runners. Once the members were done, they were sent out to their assigned jobs along the course. Fountain Valley KIWIN’S was sent to the finish line where they had to keep track of the runners using clickers. They also helped get the runners scanned in order for their times to get recorded. The job was extremely fast paced, but the members quickly adapted. After the run was done, the members were provided a complementary breakfast for their work and watched as the runners received their medals. -Angela Nguyen, Fountain Valley KIWIN’S Corr. Sec.

Sunday March 2nd, 2014,
Edison KIWIN’S attended
the Knott’s Coaster Run
event, a 10K run and a 5K
run/walk through and
around Knott’s Berry
Farm. The event raised
money for the Speech and
Language Development Center in Buena Park. Edison volun-
teers arrived at six in the morning to witness a beautiful sun-
rise and then check in. Edison volunteers helped set up the
starting line, operate the finish line at the Kids Fun Run, and
passed out medals to the children. Although it was a rainy
day, we survived with the provided ponchos and yummy vol-
unteer breakfast. Even though only four members attended,
the day was filled with many silly, memorable moments.
-Michelle Hwang, Edison KIWIN’S Vice President
On a bright
and sunny
morning, Los
Amigos KI-
WIN’S mem-
bers packed
in, unhealth-
ily, doughnuts
and soda to give them energy for their ultimate
test: applying their FarmVilleskills to the Annual
Rose Mulching event at the Fountain Valley His-
torical Society. Volunteers worked alongside the
Fountain Valley Kiwanians and Fountain Valley
KIWIN’S members to beautify the landscape. Du-
ties ranged from laying out mulch for plants to be
planted, sweeping up the area, and pulling
weeds. Our volunteers greatly enjoyed this
event!
-Katherine Pham, Los Amigos KIWIN’S IP Presi-
dent
Some of the most diligent and involved mem-
bers often go unnoticed throughout the term
because no one mentions how much extra ef-
fort and time they save for KIWIN'S. In Eric's
case, I have seen him stay loyal to this organi-
zation for years and continue to strive for its ex-
cellency. Eric not only has stayed involved with
the division throughout his high school term, but
he has gone beyond that by doing things such
as helping with the filming at the ELIMINATE
Benefit Concert. For this reason, I think it's fair to
say that Eric deserves some recognition from
Jet, and furthermore, it is my honor to nominate
him.

La Quinta KIWIN’S members travelled all the way to the Or-
ange County Great Park for the Muscle (MDA) Walk on
March 8th, 2014! After all of the volunteers checked in at the
volunteer booth, they all received their grey and blue shirts
and were assigned many tasks such as carrying coolers, set-
ting up tables and chairs, putting up tents and signs, and pre-
paring the water and food at the refreshments booths! After
the race started, members gathered around the finish line
with their spirit and posters and cheered on the runners. Some
members grabbed water bottles and distributed them
amongst the runners after they crossed the finish line. After
the race was over, members cleaned up the area and broke
down the tables, chairs, and tents. All in all, it was a successful
morning for La Quinta KIWIN’S.

GOOD JOB EVERYONE!
NEXT MONTH’S
GOAL:1,500!
HELLO EVERYBODY! Thank you ALL so much for attending my first DCM,
and supporting one another and Jet overall!
Also, a huge CONGRATS to ALL THE NEW BOARDS for
officially starting their term this past month! Hopefully, the
ships are sailing smooth so far!
Even though the 2013-2014 term has been a record breaking term for our
division, let’s keep up the momentum and make the Seniors
leaving in June PROUD!
I’m excited to see how much more we can all grow as a division and
as people, men, and women working together in service!
