Earlier this week the Buzz   was allowed a sneak

preview of the Glasgow High School’s production of“The Wedding Singer” and this highly talented cast did

not disappoint! Featuring a great soundtrack complete

with live music, it is non-stop dancing, singing and

loads of humor. This GHS musical comedy features

Noah Schleimer playing the Wedding Singer (pictured

above), Lily Helland, Tayte Prewett, Trevor Toavs,

Kyle Ross, Hunter Losleben, Amber O’Mara, Hannah

Mickelson, and Rachel Mickelson. Rounding out this

talented ensemble and playing a variety of roles are

 Aurora Chappell, Logan Gunderson, Mariah Holter

Ethan Jamba, Taylor Johnson, Trevor Johnson, Ellie

Kent, Haleigh Lawson, Lane Provencher, Natosha

Sand, Kevin Schindler, and Alex Simensen. Production

Glasgow Public School system.  Te idea originated afer Morgan attended a retreatregarding the growing problem o childhood hunger inMontana. At the retreat, Morgan learned about actionsthat could be taken to help end this problem. Her goawith this program is to provide healthy snacks on theweekends to those children in need.  She has contacted a number o local businesses orhelp with the program and has had phenomenal supportNow she needs the help o the community membersOn Saturday morning, April 9th, GHS Key Club andGHS Student Council members will be canvassing theresidential areas o Glasgow collecting items to use inthe Snack-Pack program.  I you would like to donate any o the ollowingitems, then please put them in plastic bags and leavethem on your doorstep by 9:00 a.m. and these studentswill pick them up.

  Montana Fish, Wildlie & Parks, partner agencies andother organizations are prepared or white-nose syndrome(WNS), should it turn up in Montana’s bat population.  Washington state released news last week that WNSwas detected recently in a bat discovered near North Bend,

Washington. Tis marks the western most discovery othe disease, which has killed more than six million batsin eastern states since 2006. WNS is not known to pose athreat to humans, pets, livestock or other wildlie.  WNS is a ungus that can be spread by bats, animalsor humans carrying spores on their bodies, or in the case ohumans, clothing and gear. In particular, recreational caverstraveling rom one cave to another can transport the unguson their boots, ropes or clothing.

However, an important partnership has developedbetween Montana agencies and the caving community

decreasing the odds o humans spreading the disease here.In particular, the Northern Rocky Mountain Grotto hasbeen working to educate their members and other caverson the risks o spreading this disease and the importanceo “clean caving.” Clean caving simply means adequatelydisinecting gear between cave visits.

“Cavers are very committed to doing all we can toprevent any human spread o this devastating disease. Wecare deeply about cave resources including the bats,” said IanChechet, President o the Northern Rocky Mountain Grotto.

Te partnership between agencies and the cavingcommunity has also resulted in a significant increase in

knowledge about Montana bats and their habitat.“Cavers get into places many o us wouldn’t dream o

going. Teir willingness to share inormation on what theysee while in those places has resulted in some incrediblenew knowledge about our bats and the habitats they use,”said Lauri Hanauska-Brown, FWP’s Nongame WildlieManagement Bureau Chie.

Tis knowledge allows wildlie and land managersto make inormed decisions on bat conservation into theuture and in particular in the ace o this recent finding inWashington state.

  “We are very concerned about our bat populations inMontana, but our planning and preparation to date has putus in the best place possible to address the disease i it doesmake it here,” Hanauska-Brown said.

Montana has 15 bat species including the little brownbat (the species ound inected with WNS in Washington).wo other species o Montana bats are known to besusceptible to WNS.  Bats play an important role in reducing agricultural andorest insect pests in the United States, a service valued atmore than $3 billion annually. Some bats can even eat theirown body weight in insects each night, including mosquitoes.

  OBITUARY

Dorothy Canen  A wonderul and lovingmother, grandmother, greatgrandmother and great great-grandmother Dorothy MayCanen (Young), 90, passed into

glory on Tursday, March 31,2016 and was reunited with thelove o her lie Lloyd Canen.  Dorothy never cared to be in the spotlight but was alwaysaithul in the Assembly o God Church working with childrenincluding her own. She will be looking at a lot o crowns inheaven or all the children’s lives she has impacted through herdedication. Her greatest desire was to see all her amily acceptChrist into their lives and live or Him. She aithully prayedor each and every one daily. Dorothy was a stay-at-home wieand mother, truly a home administrator. She was her children’sstrongest supporters and was always there as a comorter. In orderto send all o her children to church summer camp, she would

take in ironing. She always welcomed her children’s riends andthere was never a dull moment especially on the arm. She lovedhaving children around.  Her lie began Sept. 14, 1925 on the prairie near Forward,Saskatchewan, Canada, born to Delbert and Anna Young. Shealways liked to tell people how her dad had to hike to a fire stationto record her birth, the second oldest o 10 children. Tey movedmany places, wherever her ather could find work. She was ofengiven the responsibility o taking care o her younger sisters. Whileher ather was working on the dam, they had to run or their livesrom the rising water when the dam broke. Tey ended up movingacross the border to the U.S. and that is where Dorothy, as a 9 yearold, met the love o her lie, Lloyd Canen although not aware that

she would marry him 7 years down the road. Tey were reunitedand married June 21, 1942. Tey moved to Caliornia where Lloydwas stationed during World War II and there welcomed a daughter,Beverly, on Feb. 10, 1943, and a son, Leroy, on Jan. 27, 1945. Teyreturned to the plains o Montana afer Lloyd’s discharge romthe army. Tey lived in an old homestead house north o whereLloyd’s amily lived. While there, my mom became known as a“rake-wielding rattlesnake killing machine” killing 13 snakes thatsummer. In the all o 1946, they moved to Glasgow. Tey lived ina ew different places in and around Glasgow and welcomed a boy,Robert, on March 27, 1948. In 1950, they bought a house on thesouthside and there welcomed two sons, Roger on Sept. 29, 1955,and John on Dec. 3, 1957. In 1958, they bought some land westo Glasgow and built a house where they welcomed their last twochildren, May on May 1, 1960, and Diana on July 21, 1965. Tis iswhere Dorothy lived until her death.  She is survived by six children: Beverly Hancock (Kenny) oFairmont City IL, Leroy Canen (Carolyn) o Hamilton M, RogerCanen o Glasgow, John Canen (Gina) o Middletown NY, MayO’Hara (im) o Maytown WA, and Diana Canen o Glasgow.She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildrenand six great-great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd, a sonRobert, and 6 brothers.  Services were held April 6, 2016 at at the Assembly o God
