Students will read many books on a topic to learn and teach others about that topic. Math: We will begin a unit on geometry (2D and 3D shapes). Writing: After exploring a variety of fiction and nonfiction text, students will publish informational writing about weather related topics. Students will write informative/explanatory texts in which they name a topic, supply some facts about the topic, and provide some sense of closure. Science: Students will use inquiry and observation skills to observe weather and conduct weather related science experiments! Spelling/Phonics: Students will learn 5 new sight words (hoping, mixed, used, hopped, running) and –all family words (small, stall, call, ball, hall, etc.). Our goal is to read, write and use our words in conversation with ease and confidence. Reminders: 4/13: Reading All-Stars Celebration game for 3 rd -5 th graders who participated in the Reading All-Stars challenge Tagxedo Check out www.tagxedo.com. This program allows you to cut and paste words into a variety of shapes. Students love finding their word wall words and family words in a Tagxedo word splash. Tagxedo would be a great addition to word study at home. With parental assistance, students could type words and paste (Ctrl v) into a Tagxedo shape!
