Ӧ A Cardette hopeful should be willing to commit to this program and her TVCC academics fully while striving to be a person of exceptional quality. Excellent time management skills, willingness to conform to the traditions and Cardette dance styles are essential.

Ӧ Cardette Scholarships are available to all members. Freshman scholarships start at $1,600 per semester and sophomore scholarships start at $2,000 per semester.

Ӧ Once chosen as a TVCC Cardette, a young lady does not only represent herself and her family but each member of the college as well. This representation must be one of responsibility, class, pride and overall respect. Juvenile drama and disrespect is not welcome in this organization.

Ӧ Cardettes are scored and chosen based on advanced dance ability (see technical elements below), extreme flexibility, healthy appearance (Body mass index below 25.0 [healthy category] and appropriate with height and age), musicality/rhythm, poise, projection, personality, community service and leadership. Cardettes must be lean, fit, HEALTHY dancers in order to maintain the stamina, endurance and physical requirements of a Cardette on a daily basis.

Ӧ Visible tattoos and facial piercings (other than ear lobe) are strictly prohibited at any time while a member of this program.

Ӧ At TVCC, all Cardettes receive 2-3 transferable college credit hours per semester. Cardette classes are Monday through Friday between 1.5 to 3 hours daily depending upon the class schedule. Athletic performances are typically on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Ӧ All Cardettes are required throughout the semester to complete predetermined study hall hours, community service hours and additional workout hours to enhance their strength, stamina and academic excellence. All are accomplishable hours with good personal time management.

Ӧ All Cardettes are required to live on the Athens campus. The $225 housing deposit must be submitted at the post audition meeting or prior to July 1 to ensure dorm room reservation for the upcoming semester. $200 of the deposit will be refunded to the student upon leaving TVCC and the reminder of the deposit is for a required background check. Payment can be made by cash, check, money order or credit card.

Ӧ Ladies selected as a 2018-19 TVCC Cardette are required to attend Freshman Mini Camp in mid-July as well as team camp early to mid-August. There is not a fee to attend camps other than to learn at your best and prepare for our season!

Being a TVCC Cardette is being a part of an elite dance program. This program is a wonderful opportunity for a young lady between the ages 17-22 to continue her dance education along with beginning her journey towards a college dance degree.

Expectations of a Cardette Hopeful

“My Cardette experience as defiantly been beyond words can describe or express. Alongside of becoming a better dancer, Cardettes has also shaped me into the woman

Captain; Legends Dancer; Middle School Dance Instructor)”

“My experience as a Cardette continues to be a great one. The amount of wonderful dance opportunities I have been given with Cardettes is amazing. I have grown so much

as a dancer within the year and I cannot wait to see where I go afterwards.” Hannah Peacock 2017-18 Cardette Captain”

Ӧ Both audition sessions cover exactly the same material. You do not have to attend all sessions, nor will a Cardette Hopeful be penalized if she cannot attend the first session.

Ӧ Complete Application Paperwork must be submitted to the Cardette office no later than seven business days prior to the desired audition session. This will allow the hopeful to get the necessary links and time to learn the choreography to be the most prepared for the audition. Audition Paperwork will be accepted starting March 1st. The Cardette Audition process is a one day process where the dancer will learn a portion of the material on this day and learn choreography prior to arriving on campus. Once a Cardette Application Packet is received, a confirmation will be sent to Hopeful along with links to the material that needs to be learned prior to the actual audition day.

Ӧ Required items for auditions are:

◊ Cardette Application filled out by Hopeful (available on-line)

◊ Two Full Body photos. One in tight fitting dancewear and the other in any attire.

◊ One signed letter of recommendation from someone other than a dance coach or choreographer.

◊ Completed Director Recommendation Form (available on-line)

◊ TVCC liability waiver (available on-line)

◊ Unofficial copy of high school transcript

◊ $20 Audition Fee (Cash or check only if mailed to Cardette Office. Credit Card if registering on-line.). This fee is nonrefundable and covers meals and judging fees.

Ӧ Reservations and payments can be made on the Cardette website (www.tvcc.edu/cardettes) or you can mail in your payment with your application packet. On-line reservations will close two days prior to the audition day.

Ӧ Housing of any kind is not provided nor is available. There are several hotels in Athens if you need accommodations for the evening prior to the audition day.

Ӧ Space is limited at each session so register early to ensure your spot at auditions.

Ӧ Audition results will either be announced at the end of each audition session or posted on the Cardette website following the audition session depending upon the number of Hopfuls at each session.

Ӧ Scoring at auditions will be the total average of all elements performed during the audition process. Everything matters!

Ӧ Interviews Attire is anything you feel comfortable in and that best represents you.
