“A Journey Into the Desert” What a Lenten journey this has been! Amen? These are indeed troubling times as our world has closed in around us, both figuratively and literally. The decision we have made as a church community has not been an easy decision to make. I was hoping that we could remain open on Sunday mornings but that would have been irresponsible as businesses and schools were mandated to close their doors. We hope our efforts to keep you informed have been successful. I would like to reiterate what measures we have put into place to keep us all safe. All Sunday morning services have been canceled for the month of March. We will reevaluate where things stand as to the virus and act accordingly. I am praying that we are able to conduct Holy Week and Easter services as scheduled. We are live streaming Lenten services on Wednesday nights at 6:45 PM and worship services on Sunday at 9 AM. You can join us on our St. Paul’s Face book page, The building itself has been closed to all groups meeting here until further notice. John and I will continue to work from the church as normal. Please feel free to call us on our cell phones with any questions or concerns. There will come a day when what we are experiencing now is a distant memory. Until then, the only thing we can do is to cope with how our day to day lives have changed. I am asking you to be safe, take care of yourself and your family. If you live alone and need anything please do not hesitate to call us. Please remain faithful in your financial support of the church, and most of all, pray. Lord, in your tender mercy, embrace the entire world, and breath upon us your healing power. Be with all of the world’s healthcare workers as they literally put their lives on the line. Comfort those who have lost loved ones to the virus. Bring healing to those struggling with the disease, and most importantly, restore your people and their faith in you, the Great Healer. Amen. Blessings, Pastor Pat April 2020 For Members and Friends of St. Paul’s UCC Fleetwood

When you or a loved one is in the hospital: When you or a loved one is in the hospital for an extended stay, please notify the church office. Do not assume that the pastor’s will know you are there. Tower Health will email the pastor’s if you give them the name of your home church. St. Jo’s no longer calls us. So please let us know so we can provide you with spiritual care! Pastors Pat and John

Rummage Sale: Due to lack of help there will be NO FLEA MARKET at the RUMMAGE SALE, June 5 & 6. More info will be in the May Tower Tymes.

4 ST. PAUL'S BOOK GROUP: Please join St. Paul's Book Group at 7:00 on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 in the lounge to discuss Educated by Tara Westover. This memoir is Tara Westover's first book. Educated tells her story of being born in Idaho to a father opposed to public education, she never attended school. She spent her days working in her father's junkyard

or stewing herbs for her mother, a self-taught herbalist and midwife. She was seventeen the first time she set foot in a

classroom, and after that first taste, she pursued learning for the next decade. It has been noted that she is living proof that

some people are flat-out, boots-always-laced-up indomitable. Westover has crafted a universal coming-of-age story that gets

to the heart of what an education is and what it offers; a story that is both heartbreaking and heartwarming.

Music: MARK YOU CALENDARS! Samite Mulondo, a fabulous musician/storyteller originally from Uganda, will be sharing his music and stories with our congregation at both services on Sunday, May 17. He will be joined by David Cullen on guitar. David and Jill have worked with Samite in many concerts settings over the years and can share with you that it is an incredibly moving experience to hear this artist. Please share the word with our community too! Many Thanks for Your Contributions! Thank you to those who contributed clothes, bedding, towels, etc. to the Winter Warmth campaign for New Journey Community Outreach on South Sixth Street in Reading. Although this winter was not a terribly cold winter, there were many mornings/days that merited wearing winter clothes to stay warm. We will end the collection of clothes, etc., at the end of March. Please contribute items that you wish to move on in the coming months to the Rummage Sale in June.

FLEETWOOD FOOD PANTRY AND OUR FOOD CART: Thank you for your continuing contributions to the food cart in the narthex. Any non-perishable food items (canned fruits and vegetables, pasta, cereal, peanut butter, jelly, snack foods etc.) may be placed in the cart. In addition we can always use baby items (food and diapers) as well as paper products, cleaning products, toiletry items, etc. Since we serve people of all ages in large and small families as well as single individuals there is always a need for a variety of items. At this time (mid March) the plan is to have the Fleetwood Food Pantry open on April 2, 2020. Due to the health concerns regarding the Coronavirus there will be changes made in the way food is distributed. We know our clients depend on the food they receive at the pantry so we want to have something available for them. A new plan for distribution is being worked on and whatever that looks like it will require a minimum number of volunteers. While we were asking for "all hands on deck" because it was our church's official turn to serve at the pantry the plan has changed and many volunteers will not be required. While we appreciate all the help that our youth and team of regular volunteers provide each month we are requesting that they refrain from helping in April. When we do resume to our former method of distribution we will let you know and once again ask for volunteers. Thank you.

Relay For Life: St. Paul's UCC Fleetwood friends relay for Life team is selling tickets to raffle off a blanket at relay. Tickets can be bought every Sunday starting from March 1st till May 24th. The price of tickets are one ticket $3 two tickets $5 and 5 tickets $10.

Brass Rehearsal: Brass Rehearsal for Easter will be held on Sunday, April 5, after the second service and Wednesday, April 8, at 8:00 p.m. Any questions call Jay A. Smith at 610-944-0727 The Property Committee: In an effort to help control the spread of the coronavirus and minimize social interaction the Spring Clean-up Day which was scheduled for April 4th will be cancelled and rescheduled for Saturday, May 9th. Thank you to everyone for your understanding and cooperation.
