FLORENCE COUNTRY CLUB Life at The Club– General Manager
We are certainly going through a situation none of us has experienced before. Our business model has been challenged. We are learning as we go and making changes accordingly. We will continue to adjust to get better. We, all of us, members, staff and neighbors must come together and do our best. Our responsibility is at the highest to protect those around us and to protect the community at large. We will continue to keep the golf course and tennis courts open. The Clubhouse will remain closed, but the To Go Menu service will continue. We continue to make adjustments to speed up delivery and phone response time. Social distancing is being observed by limiting groups and using 1 cart per person. Our course is an easy walk for those looking for a little exercise. The tennis courts have also been busy with lessons and play. The Florence Country Club has a proud 96 year history and we will overcome these trying times. Our great members and staff make a tremendous foundation for us to not only survive but come out stronger. Stay safe while participating in your social distancing activities. As always, see you at The Club, Scott Simerlink

Dear Members,
Although times are weird and unconventional, The Club is still
preparing meals To Go. This is a fantastic way to end the day re-
laxing with your family sitting outside while you enjoy the even-
ing weather with the family.
Please see our weekly e-blast of specials for the week. In addition to these specials we are continuing to run
our Pub and Limited Dining Menus. Please give us a call at 843-662-1413 to order your meals to go.
We ask that you pull up to the portico where we will eagerly be watching for you. Please do not come into
the building. We will bring your meals to you. Please be patient with us as we try to maneuver our way
through this to make it safe and easy on you and us as we can.
Stay safe and continue to use safe protocols for you and your family.

Golf Course Update
As most of you already know we have made some
modifications to the course and to our rules of play in an effort to
make the game as safe and as much fun as possible. All bunker
rakes have been removed from the course as well as all of the
water coolers. Also, please leave the flagsticks in the hole while
putting. These measures have been taken for everyone’s safety.
We have been sanitizing the golf carts and if requested are allowing
our members to take individual carts. This means 1 (one) person
per Club Cart with no exceptions, walking is encouraged. You are
asked to bring your bag of clubs every time you come to the club.
Currently there is no bag storage to avoid any unnecessary
exposures.
Also, to make sure we are limiting exposure even more to our
members, we are implementing a rule that no guest play allowed at
this time. Thank you for your cooperation.
Local Rules
Bunkers: Allowed to improve your lie one club length no closer to
the hole. Ball must remain in the bunker.
Greens: When putting please leave the flagstick in the hole. For
the ball to be holed out it must come to rest in the hole.
Hole-In-Ones

the course recently! Congratulate these guys on ZOOM and buy
them a beer the next time you can meet up in The Clubhouse!

Golf Putting Tip What I’d like you to do is stand up with no putter, and then get into your putting setup. Then I’d like
you to put your hands together creating a triangle with your arms and shoulders. Once in that
position ,rock the triangle back and forth without moving your knees, hips and head. To do so the
shoulders (top of the triangle) must work more up and down than around. Thus, meaning the chest
should never open up and point to the target. Is it easy to keep everything still but your triangle?
Do you stay this steady when you putt? Work on this and let me know how it works out for you!
New Construction By now most of you have noticed the new foundation that has begun beside the driving range! We
are super excited to see the new state of the art Teaching Facility along with the new Junior Locker
Room begin to come to existence. This building will be a wonderful asset to the membership as it
will allow our members to have access to the latest technology in golf instruction featuring V1
Boditrak Pressure Mats, Trackman, and V1 Video Analysis! It will also allow our kids in an
Accomplished Junior Program, a place to hang out, feel welcomed and a place to store their clubs
other than in the back of their parent’s cars. This building will also provide the Florence Country
Club membership with bathrooms accessible to the entire membership. Also ,conveniently located
will be an ice/water machine and a beautiful porch with rocking chairs to take a break from the
upcoming summer heat. This facility is expected to be done sometime in June.

Although all of our lives are being affected by the presence of Covid-19, mother nature has not waivered. Many
things have remained true and consistent on the golf course. Our greens are going great and the shaded areas that tend
to thin out during the fall/winter are healing nicely. Our fairways and tees have been mowed multiple times already this
year and it won’t be long before we will have to apply products to slow their growth rate. We have scaled down on our
total staffing during this period of uncertainty, but will continue to protect our most valuable asset. I find myself thinking
about how fortunate I am to be able to work outside every day and simply being able to continue to work unlike many
others.
We have implemented several changes on the golf course to limit the amount of transmission sights of Covid-19.
These changes were first posted on Facebook for all of you to be informed as quickly as possible. We decided to remove
the bunker rakes, water coolers, empty ball washers and club washers as well as implementing ideas that would prevent
everyone from having to retrieve their ball from the hole at each green. We first tried raising the cup so the ball would
only hit the edge of the cup and not be able to fall in. Although, many players were scoring better than ever, we quickly
learned this method was not very efficient for my staff to work around. We have began using foam pool noodles to fill
the cup so the ball would not fall into the hole and still allow our mowers and other equipment to pass over the cup
without any disruption. This method seems to be working well for the time being.
We are in the process of completing the new Red Tee on #13. and all we will lack to have them all completed will
be #9 and #18 tees. I have planned to finish all the new tees by April of this year, but with the ongoing epidemic our
priorities have been forced to change. The new teaching facility to the right of the driving range tee continues to take
shape. At this point the foundation has been poured and the construction process will begin moving vertically very soon.
I hope each of you and your families stay safe and I hope things will return to normal very soon. Respectfully,
Dru
When playing tennis you
should always play full matches
to improve your game no matter
your age or skill level.
Also, you should play better
players better than you, players
your own level and players you
are better than. The reason to
play better players than you is to
get comfortable with pressure. If
you always play a player you are
better than, you are always
playing without pressure. Stay
safe and see you on the courts.

Apple Donuts
Okay, how many of your kids have ate ALL the junk food in
the house? Even the chocolate you have hidden in your fa-
vorite hiding spot? Here is a simple solution to crave their
junk food craving, but mix it with some healthy!
1. Cut an apple into ring (as seen to the left)
2. Spread a topping of your/or their choice on top. This
could be peanut butter, almond butter, honey, Nutella,
marshmallow fluff, cream cheese, etc.
3. Cover your choice of spread with something yummy! It
could be peanuts, sprinkles, chocolate chips, granola, rai-
sins, bananas, dried fruits, strawberries. Again, the top-
pings are endless.
Let your child’s imagination go wild. Just think how many
days you could use this snack and they never get bored with
it!

FCC Golf Guidelines
Please arrive no earlier then 15 minutes prior to tee time and
leave the course once your round is complete to help us
comply with the SC gathering guideline.
When standing, if you were to extend your club in different
directions and have that club come in contact with another
player you are probably not 6 feet away from that individual.
Utilize continuous putting once all of the players in the group
have reached the green. This will allow others to stand off to
the side of the green in order to maintain 6 feet of
separation.
