From the Principal:
As we approach the end of
another very busy term, I would
like to thank the staff for their hard
work and dedication to the
students of MPS. It's been an incredibly busy
term and our students really are very fortunate
to be offered so many extra-curricular
opportunities. As I've walked around the school
this week, I've observed the junior and senior
dancers practising at lunchtimes and after
school. Sports teams have been training
before school and during lunch
times. Students are already practising for the
Eisteddfod. Many students are learning 'sign
language' in the library, the SRC leaders are
focusing on ways to improve our school, the
Easter Hat Parade and the Choose Maths Open
Night were both well supported by parents and
community members, and It is truly wonderful
to see so many students striving to do their
personal best. This ' hive of activity' wouldn't
be possible without the staff going above and
beyond their normal teaching duties, they truly
are inspirational. All of the staff at MPS always
put the best interests of the children first and
their ongoing efforts are much appreciated.
Thank you everyone, I know you'll enjoy the
two week break! Thank you also to the parents
and community members, who continually
support the staff and our school at every
opportunity, its great working with you.
Cross Country
I witnessed some fantastic sportsmanship at
the Cross Country Carnival. It was fantastic to
see all of our students doing their personal
best, as well as cheering on their peers. Well
done to everyone involved and a special thank
you to Ms Mulholland and Ms Coward for
organising another fantastic event, which was
well attended by parents/carers, as well as
family members.
School Holidays
Over the school holidays, I hope everyone
manages to get some rest and enjoy some
quality family time. Please note that students
return to school on Tuesday 1st May. During
the break, if anyone witnesses any unusual
activity on school grounds, please call Safety
and Security on 1300 880 021.

Week 11 Focus – RESPECTFUL at the canteen – We collect, return and handle our lunches and basket with care, we wait until

High School Musical Excursion
Students from stage 2 and 3, will be going to Muswellbrook High School to watch the
rehearsal of their musical on Thursday 10th May. The cost is $6.50.
Please return note and money by Thursday 3rd May 2018. Students who have not
returned their note and money, will not be allowed to attend.
Keeping our students safe
In the mornings we have been
unlocking the back gate so that parents/carers and students can enter school grounds via this entry
point. However, it has been brought to my attention that a few of our younger students in K-2 are entering, then
leaving school grounds via the back gate in the mornings, then waiting
outside the perimeter fence for their friends. Obviously this poses a safety risk to our students so to prevent this
from happening, we will be installing a special lock on the gate during the holidays. Once installed, the lock will
need to be unlatched manually to allow access onto school grounds but once
closed, it will prevent students from going back out of the gate. If your child enters school grounds through this
gate, please talk to them about this matter highlighting the safety
aspect. It is imperative that they remain inside the boundary fence.
Thank you for your support.
SCHOOL BREAK INS Recently, our school has suffered a series of
break-ins, which is distressing and disruptive to
our staff and students. With the school holidays
approaching, I am asking for neighbouring
parents and community members to report any
unusual activity to Muswellbrook Police
Station on 6542 6999. Alternatively, the
DEC Safety and Security phone number is 1300
880 021.
Thank you for your support.
