Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ,
He is risen! He is risen, indeed! Am I living so that others know Jesus Christ is risen? Who or What is
most important in my life? I have long declared that Jesus Christ is the most important person in my life. If this is
true it should be obvious to anyone I meet, is it?
And if you be unwilling to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your
fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell; but as for
me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15
Joshua’s proclamation is one I have used throughout most of my life, but does it “ring true” to those who
meet me daily? I do not consider it a burden to live for Jesus! Truly it is a privilege to name Jesus Christ as my
Savior, Lord, most intimate friend and confidant.
Jesus offers victory over sin and death, forgiveness, salvation, new life, confidence over doubt, joy, hope, and
love; all to whomever confesses faith in him and serve him daily as Lord.
But about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God and the prisoners were
listening to them, and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were
shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and every one’s fetters were unfastened. When the jailer
woke and saw that the prison doors were open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself, supposing
that the prisoners had escaped. But Paul cried with a loud voice, “Do not harm yourself, for we are all here.”
And he called for lights and rushed in, and trembling with fear he fell down before Paul and Silas, and
brought them out and said, “Men, what must I do to be saved?” And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus,
and you will be saved, you and your household.” And they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all that
were in his house. And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their wounds, and he was
baptized at once, with all his family. Then he brought them up into his house, and set food before them; and
he rejoiced with all his household that he had believed in God. Acts 16:25-34
Paul and Silas’ praying and singing put the jailer to sleep, but when crisis happens, he asks them how to be
saved? Who are we putting to sleep “praying and singing,”? If we are being faithful, there will be a moment when
they want to know!
Jesus indwelling gift of His Holy Spirit fills us constantly with His love so we gladly seek to lead everyone
into a life-changing relationship with Jesus. We want family, friends, and enemies to enter into relationship with
Jesus and live out his glorious salvation!
Can we talk honestly, are we building relationships with new people? Do we allow children to choose
whether they read the Scriptures, learn to pray, participate in Sunday School, worship, and do mission? Are we
burying our heads in the sand, believing that everyone knows about Jesus, when all around us are people who have
not surrendered to Jesus?
God’s Holy Spirit is available to empower us today! Surrender past success and failures, asking Jesus’ mercy
and forgiveness. Ask Him to raise you up and lead you in ministry today!
We live faithfully so new people may be saved and know that Jesus is risen! He is risen indeed! God loves
us and woos us to respond by dying to lies, fears, and failures; living in the truth of Jesus by the power of his Holy
Spirit in the fellowship of his Church; not giving up, everyday seeking to lead others to Jesus! Press on in joy and
gladness!
Grace be with all who love our Lord Jesus Christ,

Seasons of the Christian Year- Easter
Join Us! Book Study Groups
The original name for Easter was Pascha, a Hebrew word for Passover. The death and resurrection
are a new Passover for the people of God. Easter is the oldest Christian festival. The first day of the
week Jesus rose from the dead and every Sunday is a celebration of this fact. This led to changing
worship from the Sabbath (Saturday) to the Lord’s Day (Sunday).
Easter is a season of fifty days from Easter to Pentecost. We begin the celebration of walking
with our Risen Lord Jesus Christ, the road to fullness of life by the power of His Holy Spirit.
Easter expresses: 1) Joy, “Jesus Christ is risen today, Alleluia!” 2) Life, eternal life for the
believer in Christ. 3) Newness, the risen Christ is a new being, the exalted, eternal Christ. Newness
is imparted to the Christian. 4) Hope, is given to all who have dead loved ones, and to everyone, for
we face death with the resurrection assurance! 5) Victory, is given by Jesus who is victorious over
the worst of the world and of Satan. Jesus gives the victory to us. We sing: “The strife is o’er, the
battle done; now is the Victor’s triumph won…”
The color of Easter is white. White expresses: celebration, festivity, joy, and victory.
You and Me Forever: Marriage in Light of Eternity by Francis and Lisa Chan. Marriage is great, but it's not
forever. It's until death do us part. Then come eternal rewards or regrets depending on how we spent our lives.
In his latest book, Francis Chan joins together with his wife Lisa to address the question many couples wonder at the
altar: “How do I have a healthy marriage?” Setting aside typical topics on marriage, Francis and Lisa dive into
Scripture to understand what it means to have a relationship that satisfies the deepest parts of our souls.
In the same way Crazy Love changed the way we saw our personal relationship with God, You and Me Forever:
Marriage in Light of Eternity will radically shift the way we see one of the most important relationships in our life.
Jesus was right. We have it all backwards. The way to have a great marriage is by not focusing on marriage. Whether
you are single, dating or married, You and Me Forever will help you discover the adventure that you were made for
and learn how to thrive in it.
For more information, please contact Nancy Wier. The study begins April 12 at the parsonage.
Growing in Discipleship The 5 sessions of this revised Design for Discipleship Bible study will give you insight and
encouragement to help you grow as a true disciple of Christ by learning to share the blessings you’ve received from
God.
For more information, please contact Rev. Paul Wier. The study begins April 4 and books are available in the library.

Distracted Driving is a Leading Cause of Car Accidents By Amanda Jo Greep
The dangers of texting while driving are well-known, but a new study found that it’s not the only dangerous distraction.
Researchers from the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute found that two-thirds of drivers are distracted in the seconds
before an accident. Cellphones were the most common cause, but drivers were also distracted by reading or writing,
reaching for something or using a touchscreen on their dashboard. They estimate that engaging in distracting activities
while behind the wheel more than doubles the risk of a crash. Still, more than half of the drivers in the study did so.
“We tend to underestimate the hazards of driving because we do it so often and it’s a critical part of daily life, but we
shouldn’t take our safety for granted,” says Dr. Sandhya Nagubadi, an internal medicine physician on staff at Advocate
South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest, Ill. To accurately track people’s driving habits, researchers installed interior
video cameras and other tracking devices in more than 3,500 cars and followed volunteer drivers ages 16 to 98 over a
three-year period. Previous studies have relied on experiments with test drivers and reports from crash investigations.
In those instances, it was difficult to determine what exactly happens in those critical seconds before an accident occurs.
“Traffic accidents are so common that they are the leading cause of death for American teens,” says Dr. Nagubadi.
“States across the country have enacted laws banning cellphone use while driving, but clearly the problem persists.” In
2014, there were more than 6 million automobile accidents reported to police, in which more than 30,000 Americans
died and another 2.3 million were injured, according to statistics from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National
Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). NHTSA recently reported a steep 9.3 percent increase in
traffic-related deaths for the first nine months of 2015, as compared to 2014. Previous research estimates that human
factors contribute to 94 percent of crashes.
“If you need to make a call or send a text, pull over for a moment and do it safely. You have to ask yourself, is this one
thing so urgent that it’s worth more than our lives?” says Dr. Nagubadi. If you want to drive safely, Dr. Nagubadi
offers these suggestions:
1. Plan your route ahead of time and cue up your playlist before you hit the road. Electronic devices can make a
drive easier or more pleasurable, but not if you’re programming them while behind the wheel.
2. Don’t eat or do any personal grooming while driving. Doing so may be convenient and save you time, but it puts
you at risk. Try to wake up earlier or plan extra time between commitments so you don’t feel as rushed.
3. Don’t drive when tired. Some studies have found drowsiness to be equally as dangerous as driving drunk.
4. Invite a friend along for the ride. Research from the National Safety Council found that adult passengers can help
drivers by monitoring traffic and the environment around them. They may offer clues about looming dangers
by stopping a conversation mid-sentence, for instance.
