The New Pope By Phillip Koerner
White smoke flew out
of the Sistine Chapel on March 13 to indicate a new pope had been chosen. Jorge Bergoglio stepped out of Saint Peter's Basillica about an hour after the smoke appeared as Francis I, Pope of the Roman Catholic Church. Francis is the first pope ever from the Americas and first pope to take the name Francis after Saint Francis of Assisi. He preceded Pope Benedict XVI (elected as pope in 2005) after he resigned on February 28. The church hopes that he does great things in the future.

A Civil War Burial
By Noah Garrett
December 31, 1862, the US Navy Warship the USS Monitor sank off the coast of North Carolina. Two sailors after 150 years will finally be honored and buried in Arlington, VA. March 8, 2013 they were laid to rest.
At the time of 1862, the Civil War was taking place and the USS Monitor was the most high tech ironclad (warship) of its time, but that changed when a storm came in and it sunk. It laid at the bottom of the sea for 112 years where it was discovered.
The two sailors were never identified. They were found at the wreck next to the turret of the ship and were hauled onto the ship and were sent to America to be buried after 150 years on a rusted-sunken boat.
The sailors’ names were never identified and they share the same fate as the “Unknown Soldier”, the soldier of no name that fell in battle.
I feel these soldiers have finally got the rest they deserve. I hope they are happy now that they are getting recognition.
Congrats to Wrestler State Qualifiers

Cubs News By Samuel Golwitzer
Wrigley Field, the Cubs’
stadium, is going to have renovations soon. Unfortunately, it will block the view of the rooftop owners. The rooftops are views of Wrigley Field from apartment rooftops. Tickets for the rooftops are usually cheaper than regular tickets. It's the rooftop owners that give Wrigley Field a profit but by planning to put in a new jumbotron it gives them the profit of companies advertising on it. Wrigley rooftop owners have a petition to stop the build and one of the rooftop owners delivered a goat head to Wrigley Field to protest the jumbotron.

The Outsiders By Madeline Ellexson If you are looking for a great book that has violence, gang fights, and a whole lot of slang, The Outsiders would be a perfect match for you. This story follows the main character, Ponyboy, and his gang as they get into big trouble fighting with the Socs, preppy rich kids from the east side of New York. Many people have come to love this book and say it’s really good.
Kayla Koontz says the book is exhilarating and a super easy read. Madelyn Thompson says once she started reading, she couldn’t put the book down. I encourage everyone to at least give this book a chance. It is a wonderful book when you get into it.
