Varina Key Club.
Winter is gone and Spring is amongst us!
No more delays, snow days, or unwanted icy roads
that keep you in the house; it’s time for some fun in
the sun!
Now that the weather won’t be a problem
anymore, we’re going to have more time to some
service projects and actually have fun without
having to wear 5 layers of clothing.
We’ve been having a very good member
participation rate and I hope to keep that up. Key
Club isn’t just about gaining hours for a seal on
your diploma, it’s about having fun while you’re
helping out others who sometimes can’t help
themselves. As the school year is coming to an

end, I hope that all of you are able to look in the
mirrors and see a change in yourselves, a bigger
and better person, and hopefully you have Key
Club to thank! I know I’ve changed since
September of my freshman year. We’re all a little
family now, keep up the good work!
I also want to thank the entire club who
are dedicated to serving in Key Club, and who
attend the meetings and majority of the events.
You keep us strong!

ELIMINATE
As you all know, ELIMINATE is Key Club’s biggest project, and the
time where you hear about it most is sometime in the fall, but that doesn’t mean you have to stop thinking about it! There is always a time to act, and
that time is NOW!
The District Board of the Capital District of Key Club International set
up a goal of raising $68,000 as a district for the Eliminate Project by
the time of District Convention (which just past), and it turns out that we raised, just over $70,000, now if
that isn’t something to celebrate about, I don’t know what is! It was from the dedication from all of our members that were able to meet our goal and go above and beyond our
calling.
- On another bright note, Varina raised $1,000 towards Eliminate, kudos to us!
DCON has come and gone, I hope for all that went that they enjoyed themselves and got to see what Key Clubbers are all about! Here are a few pics, courtesy of some of our members, from the trip!
Varina Newsletter 3
We had a great turnout at the Ruritan dinner on March 20th, I’d like to thank everyone who attended, and your work hasn’t gone unnoticed because we got a donation of $200! Keep it up!

The Golden Anniversary Dinner is coming up and I would absolutely love if everyone participated! It’s one of my favorite events to do and it just makes you feel right. Also called the 50th anniversary dinner, this is when couples that have been married for 50+ years join in a church to have dinner, cake, view pictures of them and also listen to a live band. As volunteers, we are to help pass out food/beverages and then help to clean up afterwards, you also get to eat, so please sign up! You get to see the faces of real love that is still going strong to this day!
On May 3rd, the Exceptional Education prom is occurring, although last year was fun, this year, we want to make it even better! The theme you ask? RED CARPET; glitz and glam, so if any of you fantastic members have any props that you would feel go great with our theme, let us know, we can use all the stuff we can get! We’re trying to make this prom the best one yet.
The Big Feet Meet, sort of like the Olympics for our special education students is taking place April 22nd, and we’ve been asked to help! It is from 9:30am- 1pm, at Sports Backers Arena, in Richmond.
Basically, we’ll just be a buddy for the students that are participating.
Just a friendly FIY, Varina is no longer in division 4C anymore, we are now 11B, I know this is kind of a big change, but it’s alright! That doesn’t change who we are .
