ST. CHARLES BORROMEO CATHOLIC COMMUNITY NEDERLAND, TEXAS Alleluia! He has risen. Alleluia! He has conquered death. He has brought salvation to the world. Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Today we welcome Alleluia! back to our vocabulary. We sing it, we shout it, we proclaim it. Throw open the doors and windows! This is too big to be contained. The veil of the sanctuary, torn in half when Jesus died on the cross, is a sign of this, for the sanctuary could no longer contain it. The stone that was rolled away from the entrance to the tomb is, too, for the tomb could no longer contain it. The new life that Jesus brought about through his death and resurrection is too great to be closed up. It needs to escape into the open, bursting forth for all to share. Last night, the Church around the world welcomed its newest members. Today we renew our own baptismal promises, recalling the day that we became members of the Church. As members of the Church, we are called to spread the Good News, as the apostles did after Jesus’ death and resurrection. We do not just shout and sing Alleluia! to ourselves. We celebrate the redemption Jesus won with everyone. Alleluia indeed! Question of the Week: How will you share this Easter joy today and throughout the year? April 1, 2018

ST. CHARLES BORROMEO CATHOLIC COMMUNITY NEDERLAND, TEXAS

Dear Parishioners, As we celebrate this Easter—the central foundation of our Christian faith... the day that Christ rose from the dead... the day that we celebrate the LIVING Christ—shouldn't it be a day that we confirm Christ living in US? On this Holy Day, I think it is important to ask ourselves, "Are we keeping Christ alive in our lives?" Will our past lives be jealous?

My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who

loved me and gave himself for me. I am not one of those who treats Christ's death as meaningless… ~ Galatians 2:20-21

Here are some of the definitions of "being Alive"…

Peace—

...and I wonder if we could use them to describe our relationship with Christ. Is our connection, "alert, animated, prevalent, meaningful, active, in use?" Or is what we experience with Christ different—even something less than that? Why? What does Christ's Life, Death, and Resurrection really mean in our daily lives? If we experience the Risen Christ, can we actually go on with our lives as if things are the same as before? Were our old selves truly "crucified with Christ"? So this Easter, as we approach the altar and partake of the "body and blood" of our Living Savior, let us all remember to let Christ live in us. Let us not be one of those who treat Christ's death as meaningless. Let his death and his resurrection be significant events not only in our religious lives, but in our daily lives as well. Let the Paschal greeting resonate with us: "Christ is Risen!" And let us always answer with enthusiasm—by our words and especially in our lives—"Christ is Risen, Indeed!" ALLELUIA!!!

alert and animated, having interest and meaning, to be aware of and interested in, prevalent and very active, continuing to be supported or in use
