An event:

An IoT Hackathon is promoted under IoT Week 2015

“IoT Hackathons are melting posts of hands-on innovation and excellence where

the IoT tech wizards gather to create the most magnificent IoT solutions”

Participants at the IoT Hackathon 2015 Lisbon are mainly students from the most

renowned tech Universities in Portugal and Europe as well as practitioners of IoT-

related labs from Portuguese and European Industry, SMEs and academia/institutes.

The IoT Week 2015 Hackathon will be an event opened to the general public, with

high visibility and great attention from the media.

The generic rules for participation in the IoT Hackathon 2015:

• Participation in the IoT Hackathon requires the creation of a new solution (in the

form of a working prototype) that fits into the context of the Internet-of-Things;

• The IoT Hackathon does not serve to sell products or existing solutions but rather to make

known the organisation/individuals through its innovation capacity in IoT concepts;

• Make available a team of up to 3+1: up to 3 developers/hackers (who will develop the IoT

solution) + 1 host (which will explain to the public/media what the team is trying to achieve).

• Each team will take proper care of its own space, promoting itself and its project using what

they please (banners, leaflets, roll-ups, TVs, ornamental elements, etc.) provided that it is

confined to their designated area. A prize exists for the most attractive hacking environment !

The IoT Hackathon 2015 Lisbon approach:

• At the beginning of the event all teams will have the opportunity to choose

technologies from all Hackathon’s sponsors – from the IoT Hackathon warehouse !

-------- The IoT Hackathon 2015 Warehouse is full of sponsored technological items --------

• The teams need to use at least one technology of those inside IoT Warehouse.

• The use of more technologies will give extra points to the teams in the competition.

• The more technologies and well implemented from our partners the teams use the

more points the teams will get.

• There are sponsored prizes: e.g. IBM prize for the best IoT project using Bluemix™, etc.

Evaluation Process:

• Teams will be evaluated by a group of notables from the IoT world (attending IoT Week)

• Awarded teams will be acclaimed inside the main morning session of the IoT Week !!!

The IoT Hackathon 2015 Warehouse contents:

• Set of IBM Bluemix™ licenses – sponsored by IBM Iberia

• Set of Libelium Student Kits – sponsored by Libelium

• Many Arduino kits (with many available shields) –

sponsored by FCT-UNL

• …

(and growing)

IoT

Standard sponsorship model to the IoT Hackathon 2015:

If you want to become a sponsor to the IoT Hackathon, you should make

IoT solutions available to the teams that will be used during the Hackathon.

• If the teams implement a sponsor’s solution with success, the sponsors could offer it to the

teams. If a sponsor don’t want to give away the kit, they can offer 1 kit as prize.

• At Monday (June, 15th) the sponsors could do a workshop/training/hands-on to train the

hackers on their technologies for using them properly during the hacking days.

• The sponsors can make available technicians/engineers/experts during the hacking days to

help the teams in taking best advantage of their solutions and technologies.

• During the days of the IoT Hackathon the organisation will make available 1 auditorium (150

people) for sponsors to host sessions/workshops on their technology to the public.

The IoT Hackathon 2015 Lisbon takes place in the

Lisbon Congress Centre, during Tuesday and

Wednesday (June, 16th to 7th) from 8a.m to

8p.m. Thursday (morning), the final evaluations

will take place and there will be an award

ceremony for the various categories inside the

main programme of the IoT Week 2015 Lisbon!

• The organisation will provide with the basics:

tables, chairs, Internet and electricity. We will

try to have some sponsored F&B (coffee,

water, snacks, and others) as well as street

food stands inside the IoT Hackathon area.

• The IoT Hackathon 2015 will be opened to the

general public and to the media from 9a.m

until 6p.m, each of the days of the event.
