EXCELLENCE IN CLAIMS HANDLING

BRAZIL P&I, correspondents in Brazil for the major P&I Clubs, is a claims handling hub at the service of the shipping community.

Formed by British and Dutch former merchant marine officers, engineers, shipping experts, lawyers and claims adjusters, the company was established from the expansion of Pandibra McLintock Services Ltda (Santos/Brazil).

Strategically located at the most important ports of the country, BRAZIL P & I provides rapid and efficient response, following the policies of our Principals by the expertise of the staff, which receives continuous training, integrated with technological solutions for the control of the claims.

The company also invests in loss prevention initiatives, seeking to reduce losses by preparing legal advice, attending cargo inspections and providing information concerning changes in legislation, as well as organizing seminars and lectures, such as the Maritime Conference which counted with 300 delegates in its last year’s edition.

40 years experience in the maritime business acquired performing managing positions in reputed companies, his last position before joining Pandibra was operations director of Fertimport (Bunge). Extensive work with public and private organizations as former president of the São Paulo State Ship Agents Syndicate (Sindamar), Vice President of the Brazilian Ship Agencies Federation (Fenamar), Delegate of Fonasba (Federation of National Associations of Ship Brokers and Agents), director of CNT (National Transport Federation), Councilor of the Port of Santos Council (CAP-Santos).

Claims adjuster certified by the National Insurance Federation (Fenaseg), former sea going radio-officer employed on Dutch flag vessels from 1974 to 1992, when he fulfilled a contract with Greenpeace international as a communications and public relations officer.

Merchant Navy officer graduated by the Nautical School of Rio de Janeiro; Master Marine, in command, of seagoing vessels from Lloyd Brasileiro for more than 12 years and at sea for more than 27 years; 12 years experience in shipping agency as managing position and as Port Captain to foreign vessels; 15 years acting as Marine and Cargo Surveyor with extensive knowledge of all types of surveys carried out for P&I Clubs, vessel's owners, Charterers and shipping agencies; Claims adjuster by the National Insurance Federation (Fenaseg).

Santos (Head Office)Our Head Office is based in Santos, the largest and most important port in South America, accounting for more than a quarter of the Brazilian trade balance. With over 60 berths along 13 kilometers of quay where containers, vehicles, solids and liquids in bulk as well as all kinds of general and project cargoes are handled in a diversified number of modern and specialized terminals. The port is being gradually structured to support the oil industry exploring the Santos pre-salt fields.The hinterland of the port of Santos includes the State of São Paulo, the industrial and financial center of the country and also the largest consumer and producer market in Latin America. It also serves other States of Brazil and neighboring countries, such as Bolivia and Paraguay.Our Head Office also supports the port of São Sebastião, the key reception port of crude oil in Brazil.

Rio de Janeiro (Head Office)Rio de Janeiro is the most important shipping related business hub in Brazil. Most national shipowners and oil and gas companies are located in Rio, as well as national authorities such as the Directory of Ports and Coasts and the Maritime Tribunal. Rio is also home of a large shipbuilding industry.

BRAZIL P&I Rio de Janeiro office provides claims handling to P&I Clubs, H&M insurers and shipowners as well as business consultancy for shipping and oil and gas companies looking to trade in Brazil.

Recife (Branch Office)Over the last decade the northeast region have shown high rates of industrial growth, currently being the third largest economy in the country among the major regions. Seaborne trade and maritime activities have grown accordingly.

Our branch office for the northeast is located in Recife, a traditional port for sugar, ethanol, grains, clinker and general cargo.

We are also close to the port and industrial complex of Suape, holding investments over US$ 17 billion, more than 100 companies are licensed and another 35 under implementation. A major oil refinery, petrochemical plants, and the largest shipyard in the southern hemisphere are under construction, a movement that will transform Suape into a major hub for goods and services for the oil, gas, offshore and shipbuilding industries.

Itajai (Associated Office)Our local branch is strategically located to attend with efficiency the ports and terminals of Itajaí/Navegantes, São Francisco do Sul, Imbituba and Itapuá, all in the State of Santa Catarina.

Itajai/Navegantes presently responds for the second place in the movement of containers in Brazil, just behind the port of Santos. On the other hand, São Francisco do Sul is a major port for bulk cargoes, through which grains, vegetable oils, fertilizers and steel coils are regularly moved.

The ports of Paranaguá and Antonina, in the State of Paraná, are also covered by our Itajaí branch.

Vitória The port complex of the State of Espírito Santo, which includes the well known facilities of Tubarão – operated by the giant Vale do Rio Doce, comprises several ports and terminals such as Vitoria, Praia Mole, Portocel, Ubu and others, which handle mainly iron ore, coal, steel products, pulp and containers.

All the above ports and terminals are covered by our associated office located in Vitoria.
