EZ Knife comes standard on MultiCam’s Digital Express and Graph-X-Cutter™ machines. Or purchase it as a stand-alone CNC machine based on the MultiCam 1000 and 3000 Series motion platforms. We also can add it as an option to most router and plasma systems.

High-performance MultiCam motion systems, all-steel construction and a vast range of process area sizes bring a new level of performance and utility to knife cutting. MultiCam machines are heavy, powerful and accurate, so moving a knife blade is EZ. Why are they so heavy duty? Because the same MultiCam can also move a 90-pound high-frequency spindle through solid wood, thick acrylic and aluminum.

EZ Knife is applicable to many markets. Point-of-purchase and graphic art professionals use EZ Knife as part of their digital finishing workflow. Images printed on wide-format digital printers are easy to register using the exclusive MultiCam MultiVision® digital registration system. Place printed images on a MultiCam outfitted with EZ Knife and complete the cut process in perfect registration. When combined, MultiVision and EZ Knife make a powerful digital finishing solution!

Graphic artists wrap designs onto boxes and other POP displays. EZ Knife can assist this process by creasing, perforating and cutting corrugated and other cardboard materials for sample making and short-run packaging.

The HVAC industry cuts fiberglass and closed-cell foam liners with the EZ Knife to insulate steel HVAC duct work acoustically. It works with both rotary knife blades and oscillating knives.

EZ Knife cuts single-ply materials for the boating industry and other similar upholstery applications. Single-ply phenolic and composite materials are hard to cut with conventional knife technologies. EZ Knife offers an ultrasonic option to challenge these tough applications.

MultiVision Digital Registration System

MultiVision is standard on all Digital Express and Graph-X-Cutter machines, and we can add it as an option on routers. It is a digital camera/software-based system that recognizes media registration marks visually and compensates for skew, distortion and image drift automatically. The MultiVision system integrates easily into your existing workflow. It provides the additional flexibility of utilizing state-of-the-art CAD/CAM software for enhanced tool path generation as well as high-end 3-D sign and graphic applications.

MultiCam developed the EZ Knife cartridge system to perform mechanized knife-cutting, creasing and perforation operations for the digital finishing market. Users may configure two independent tangential knife receivers on all MultiCam Digital Express machines.

The EZ Knife system supports tangential drag, oscillating and ultrasonic cutting techniques. Choose from many blade types including rotary, spear point, utility, kiss cut and more. MultiCam high-performance motion-control systems coupled with a popular range of table sizes bring a new level of performance and utility to knife cutting.

Dual-Cartridge Receiver Option

The EZ Knife dual-cartridge receiver allows the operator to load different receivers with various knife cartridges for quick and easy dual-purpose cutting. NOTE: Image (right) is set up for the 1000 Series Router only. Dual-tangential system is available on other machines.

Rapid Shape™ 2-D Digitizer

MultiCam Rapid Shape™ digitizes complicated shapes automatically. Mounted on any MultiCam router, Digital Express or Graph-X-Cutter, this device enables the router to follow an edge of a pattern or object on the router bed automatically and record the outline on the host PC. Easy and accurate calibration makes digitizing a variety of materials possible. Rapid Shape software generates a G-Code file for importing to many CAD/CAM systems. Digitizing speeds of 60 inches per minute are typical. Rapid Shape is ideal for solid-surface manufacturers who need to trace part templates but don’t want to deal with the time and error of manual digitizing interfaces.

Automatic Knife Changer

MultiCam’s exclusive Automatic Knife Changer allows changing up to five knife cartridges under CNC program control.

Conveyor System (Available on the Digital Express Only)

Order the Digital Express with an optional conveyor system for rolled materials and jobs longer than the table. A conveyor system belt serves as a vacuum cutting surface and advances the material automatically. The user may retrieve the material from a roll continuously, or the system will feed sheets automatically.
