The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a satellite-based navigation system made up of a network of24 satellites placed into orbit by the U.S.Department of Defense. GPS was originally

intended for military applications, but in the 1980s,the government made the system available forcivilian use. GPS works in any weather conditions,anywhere in the world, 24 hours a day.

Taking the GPS feed and the data collected ,for the

passengers, a time estimation can be provided ofwhen a certain vehicle will arrive at a certain stop.

The estimation time can be made availablethrough SMS,through smart phone applications.

By use of GPS which part of city is crowded andalternate routes can be found.
