Direct expansionTheTHX units are single-block conditioners with direct expansion andaircondensation.Theinnovativesystemofaircirculationem-bodies a significant improvement of the performances in different thermalloadconditions.
Reduced noise levelThe use of innovative axial fans with 6-pole backward curved blades, together with a Scroll-type compressor and a cabinetdesign eliminating every source of inner sound reflection and vibrations,makes this equipment suitable especially for city areas.

PanellingAllouterpanelsarefastenedusinganti-vandalscrewsTORX®,while the front ones are equipped with handles for an easy removal forinspections.Theunitmaintenancecanbefullymadefromthefront, includingthe innovativeextractabledampersection.Thisenables a unique flexibility, with unit ."On Site Upgrading".and the possibilitytoaccessandcleanthecondensatecollectingtray.
Power suppliesAllunitsareavailablewithdifferentsupplyvoltages,withtheoptionofdoublepowersupply.Inthiscaseit ispossibletohavea48vdcor24Vdcsolutionfortheair-conditioningcontrol,evenincaseofpowerfailure.

Design vs. Technology?TheTHXunitsintroduceanewplantmodelfeaturedbyapleasantdesignmatchedwitharationalarrangementofthecomponentsandanexcellentassemblycompactness.Thesingle-compressorunit reduceddimensionsenable to install twounitsona2.20-mwall,asforthesheltersincludingtheministationsforwirelesstelephony.ThespecialLennoxconceptofSFT.SideFree-CoolingTechnology.enablestoreacharealoperationunderpartialloadconditionswithpossiblesimultaneousmechanicalcooling,evenwhenthetwounitsoperatetogether.Thetwo-compressorseries.2.matchesthesafetyofthetwomachineswiththeinexpensivenessofthesingleunit,withapowerrangecoveringabout80%oftheinstalled.Allunitsarefactorytestedbyusingautomaticsystemsbasedonobjective.in-out.criteriaandarereadytobeinstalledandstartedbysimplewiringonsite.
Start-UpThe holes arranged on the rear flange enable the machine/s wall-mounting;thecondensatedischargeistobearrangedandthepowersupplyistobeconnected.Incaseofunitswiththree-phasemain supply, check the phase correct sequence (the indicator on the phase sequence relay in the electric board switches on): in case of wrong sequence, themP control records an alarmand doesnotenablethecompressorstart.Thestartingprocedureisoperated by pressing the key .ON. on the control keyboard.
HandlingThe THX units can be handled by fitting belts under the base and paying attention to make them pass through the supplied anti-tilting eyebolts,fastenedintheuppersidepart.
Noise levelsTheTHX unitsincludetheexclusiveuseofventilationsolutions,featured by a low emitted noise level making these conditioners compatiblewithcityinstallations.Thesupportstructure,thepanelsandthefasteningsystemsaredesignedtoreducevibrationsandtheir transmission as low frequency sound emissions as much aspossible.
Energy efficiencyThe highest possible energy efficiency has been the maintargetinthewholethermo-dynamicandaeraulicdesigning.Therefrigerating circuit is featured by the use of .rolling piston. or.Scroll.compressorswithtopreliabilityand(optional)possibilityof replacing the traditional lamination component with anelectronically-controlled electric valve: this brings a reduced energyconsumptionby50%whentheoutertemperaturelowersbelow20¢XCand,aboveall,whenthedirectfree-coolingisnotpossible.Theaerauliccircuit implies theuseofcentrifugal fans
with backward curved blades, featured by a very high reaction degree,itisthuspossibletoremovethescrollandtherelevantenergylossesinthedynamic-staticalconversion;allusedfanscan be equipped with .brushless. motor with permanent magnets andrelevantswitchingelectronics,thatcanbedirectlypoweredbyanemergencymainsat48Vdcor24Vdc.Inthiscase,thedc motor efficiency matches with the fan efficiency, thus reaching outstanding energy results (over 45%). The SFT® conceptdevelopedbyLennoxachieves,aswellasexceptionalaeraulicperformance,atrueexploitationeventogetherwiththemechanicalcycle: this contributes remarkably to reduce energy costs in the rangeofoutertemperaturesbetweentheinnersetpointandTFT(TotalFree-Coolingtemperature).
Emergency situationsAll units can be equipped with dual supply, main supply and "dc" supply.

In caseofmains failure,a voltagepresence relaysignals thisto the "mP" control that, together with the ventilation and Free-Cooling section, continues to be powered by back-up batteries. Thisensurestheair-conditioningcontrolevenwithpossibleinnertemperaturevariationsfromtheset-pointvalues.ManufacturingfeaturesAllelectric,aeraulicand refrigeratingcomponentsareassembledinsidethemachinecabinetandcannotbeaccessedfrom outside, without removing the panels.All removablefasteningsby.AVAScrews.needspecialtools(optional)fortheirremoval.Themachinehasamin.protectiondegree IP44andtheprotectiongrillesoftherotarypartscomplywiththeaccidentpreventionsectionofthenormsEN60335;asoption,afurtherprotectinggrilleforthecondensingsectionfanfrontisavailable.
UpgradingTheTHX seriesisdevelopedontwodimensional.frames.only,inthesingle-compressorversion,andonasingle.frame.inthetwo-compressorversion.Thisenablestheupgradingofthebasicradiostationsduetotheimplementationofnewtransmissionstandards,andthereforetotheincreasedinnerthermalload.

Recirculation air filtrationThe filter is located upstream the evaporating coil and can be easily extracted by removing the front panel dedicated to the filter/damper section. Thanks to its position, it filters both the recirculation and the fresh air in case of Free-Cooling: in the latter case, on the fresh air ejection section, a metal filterprevents the nesting inside the containerofsmallanimalsorinsects.Thewashablesynthetic-typefiber filter, with efficiency EU2, is installed in a galvanized sheet frameforaneasymaintenance.
Condensing section fanTheaxial-typeusedfans,withwing-shapedblades,arefeaturedbyahighcoveringdegree.Allused6-polemotorslimitthesoundemissions, and are outer rotor type to improve the energy effi-ciencyandreducethemagneticnoisewhentheyareadjustedwithphasedisconnectingdevices(optional).
Condenser with finned packWith dimensions 25x21.65 and a 3/8. pipe it is composed of 0.10-mm thick aluminum fins and copper pipes expanded on the sameforacompletecontact.Thedesigncriteriaprivilegesthefrontsectionwiththeadvantageofreducedlossesontheairside,sothat it ispossibletouse6-polefanswithminimizedemittedsound power. The condensing coil can be equipped with a metal filter that can be easily removed fromone of themachine sides: this doubleaccessenablesthemaintenanceevenincaseofdoubleinstallationonthecontainerwall.
Electric board
Itislocatedinaseparatecabinethidden on the back side by the recirculationairbeforeitiscoo-led by the evaporating coil : this aspectisextremelyimportantforboththecomponentcoolingand,atthesametime,forpreventingthecondensationonthebottomside of the board.All on-board systems comply with the EECDirective "Low tension 73/23" and with the related norms. The accesstotheelectricboardispossiblewithoperatingunitasitis completely separated from the air flow; the protection degree withopenpanelisIP20.
Manufacturing specifications
StructureTheTHX seriesunitsarededicatedtotheoutdoorusewithtem-peratures rangingbetween .20°C(undercondensationcontrol)and +45°C. The entire inner structure is made up of hot electro-galvanized sheet with high thickness, and the outer paneling is in smooth 5005 aluminum alloy or, upon request, in galvanized sheet paintedwithepoxy-polyesterpowdersRALxxxx,oven-curedat180°C.Ifpainted,thecolouroftheunitsdependsonthecustomer.s specifications for re-order batches of more than 20 pieces. The innovativeglobaldesignofthemachineenablesacompletefrontaccessibility whereas the outstanding possibility of extracting/fitting thedamperfromthefrontoffersthedoublechanceofupgradingonsiteofthemachinesoriginallywithouttheFree-Coolingoption,and itoffers theaccessibility to theevaporatingcoilandto thecondensatecollectiontray,too.
Refrigerating circuitTherefrigeratingcircuit isentirelyinhousemanufactured, using welders certified accor-ding to the Directive PED 97/23 on pressuri-zedcontainers,andallrelevantcomponentsare certified according to the same directive. Theexclusiverotaryorscroll-typeusedcom-pressors are available in the version for fluids typeHFC(R407C;R134a);forthenon-EECcountries signing theMontrealProtocol, inthe version with HCFC R22.The machinestandard equipment includes a thermostatic lamination valve and a vacuum start device: thisdeviceisenclosedintheScrollcompressororisoutsideinthe versions with single-phase rotary compressor/s. The circuit is completed with anti-acid dryer filter with molecular sieve, a flow indicator and pressure intakes for the maintenance and/or inspectionoperations.
Evaporating section fan
TheTHX units are fitted with centrifu-gal-type fans, with (tilted) backward curved blades and single intake. These fansare featuredbydivergingbladeducts and by a high outer diameter/in-nerdiameterratio,enablingtoachievean outstanding aeraulic efficiency; fur-ther,ahighoutputspeedandthereforealaunchoversevenmeterscanbereachedthroughtheirpositiontowardsthedeliverygrille.All machines can be equipped with fans powered by brushless motorswithpermanentmagnets,dcsuppliedat48Vor24V,andinthiscase,combinedwiththeADVANCEDmicroprocessor.Therefore,itispossibletopilotdirectlytherotatingspeedsuitingit to the different operating conditions, such as: de-humidification, energysaving,etc.

TheTHXdesigningconceptenablestheupgradingonsiteofunitsnot equipped with the Free-Cooling option; this is important in such cases where it is necessary to have a unit stock at disposal.The temperature sensors installed at delivery, intake and fresh air control completely the damper, improving its energy efficiency and avoiding the risk of inlet air at temperatures lower than the limit allowed by the electronic equipment. In case of combination with DUAL supply, mains + dc UPS, the Free-Cooling can enable tocontroltheclimateeveninemergencysituationsand,ifthetwounitsarereciprocallyconnected,itcanimplementallstrategiesforavoidingtolosethecontroloftheinnersetpointofthecontainer(see Fig. 6).
