Scope

The deliverables from Fujitsu’s Application Delivery Services will vary according to the specific service required as described below.

Application Delivery Services

Fujitsu has an extensive range of Application Delivery Services roles. We deploy these roles to understand the business value that can be achieved in the customer’s organisation through new or enhanced (cloud) services. We are enabled to assess how best to migrate, modernize and transform the application portfolio.

Fujitsu applies a combination of professional services, rapid applications development and integration services, underpinned by a proven methodology.

Areas in which Fujitsu’s Application Delivery Services are utilised include:

Creation of an application portfolio roadmap to understand what changes will happen when and detailing the benefits achieved at key points

Implementation of the appropriate (cloud) solution for each application portfolio entry targeted for cloud transformation, for example:

Replace the application(s) with a Software as a Service offering

Implement new (cloud native) applications on a cloud platform (Platform as a Service)

Re-platform an existing application to a cloud-based infrastructure (Infrastructure as a Service)

Re-architect applications to fit target cloud architecture framework

Integrating the existing systems into the cloud, improving the agility of the overall systems to meet future business requirements.

Developing APIs to access functionality from existing (legacy) applications

The defined roadmap, underlying architecture and Fujitsu’s approach to delivery is geared to provide business as usual, to realise benefits early and to recognise legal and regulatory constraints. Through the deployment of our Application Delivery Services, Fujitsu can deliver an end-to-end applications transformation service, from design and build through to applications management, regardless of the target cloud services.

Transformation Approach

Fujitsu’s methods for business change and transformation are driven by a framework which blends business and technical change and transformation for the delivery of business value. The framework defines a set of outcomes which we have found to be critical success factors. Fujitsu’s methods are aligned to the delivery of these outcomes in the optimum way in line with the context.

Figure 1: Fujitsu’s Outcome Driven Transformation

The Fujitsu framework recognises four key phases. Each has an overall outcome plus six second level outcomes. Fujitsu defines a number of work streams which collaborate to deliver the transformation outcomes, depending on the context. The work streams are:

Programme management

Change leadership

Stakeholder management

Requirements and benefits management

Business solution

Business change

Service transition

Service transformation

Technology transformation.

Programme and Project Management

Fujitsu has created a specialist community of Project and Programme Services (P&PS) resources. Our skilled professionals, enabled by our methods and tools, provide a world-class P&PS capability. Break down initiatives into clearly defined projects and offer a framework for handling them

Leverage best practice in Agile methodology when appropriate and agreed

Involve interested stakeholders

Manage risk and ensure the programme responds to change

Audit and maintain quality.

DevOps and Agile

Fujitsu implements a collaborative DevOps approach and environment to break down the traditional barriers that have existed between development and operations teams. Our DevOps approach drives professionalism of application development and application operations by fostering standardisation and operations.

Our Working Principles for DevOps are:

You build it – you run it – DevOps teams take responsibility for the code they write

One team, one agenda - Development, Quality Assurance and Operations work as one team

One integrated process and tooling - Operates over complex development, test and production environments that are located on premise, in a private cloud, the public cloud

Automation in development and testing - Tools to automate the build and testing of an application.

Automated deployment - Tools to automate the complete deployment of a new version of an application and its configuration, to a target execution environment.

Application monitoring - Proactive and preventative monitoring that provides valuable feedback on the application and its performance.

DevOps injects Lean (Agile) thinking into operations and development (ALM Application Lifecycle Management).

The success of DevOps is as much about a cultural shift as process and technology to enable seamless rapid business change.

Using our DevOps approach, we blend security operations with an agile development process that has effective release mechanisms. We can deliver quality applications at speed.

Test Management

For projects, the testing management service delivers end to end Test Management for Customers, covering the full development life cycle from project initiation through to live service. The Test Manager will set the direction and approach for the required test effort, provide management and control, progress reporting and risk / issue management, defect management process, Customer engagement and relationship management. The scope and deliverables of the service include:

Definition of test requirements and scope (via the test strategy or test plan) and associated test deliverables

Test estimates and resource requirements (human and computer)

Test assumptions, risks, dependencies and issues

Definition of test levels (component, system, release and solution)

Definition of test types (functional, non-functional)

Management and control of test effort, including test reporting and metrics

Test defect management.

The Service provides defined test life cycle stage entry and exit criteria, to enable informed judgements on product quality as progress through the development lifecycle is made, which in turn feed directly into the project quality gates and lifecycle checkpoints. Our test services for Agile projects are driven by best practice in the agreed Agile methodology. Our Test Managers are skilled and experienced in a range of Agile methodologies and their testing requirements, from Test Driven Development to underlying and frequent unit and integration tests that involve cross-functional Agile teams.
