TRCA is beginning an EnvironmentalAssessment under the EnvironmentalAssessment Act to create a system ofgreenspaces along the Lake Ontario shorelinebetween Bluffer’s Park and East PointPark in Toronto, Ontario. The vision of theScarborough Waterfront Project is to createa system of greenspaces along the LakeOntario shoreline which respect and protectthe significant natural and cultural features ofthe Bluffs, enhance the terrestrial and aquatichabitat, and provide a safe and enjoyablewaterfront experience.

The Process

On December 15, 2015, the Minister of theEnvironment and Climate Change approvedthe Terms of Reference for the Scarborough Waterfront Project. A copy of the approvedTerms of Reference is available at the TRCA Head Office at 101 Exchange Ave, Vaughan,ON L4K 5R6 or at any time on the project website: www.trca.on.ca/swp.

This study will be carried out according to the approved Terms of Reference and therequirements of the Environmental Assessment Act. Results from this study will bedocumented in an Environmental Assessment, which will be submitted to the ministry fora review. At that time, the public, Aboriginal communities and other interested personswill be informed when and where the Environmental Assessment can be reviewed.

Consultation

Members of the public, agencies, Aboriginal communities and other interested personsare encouraged to actively participate in the planning of this undertaking by attendingconsultation opportunities or contacting staff directly with information, comments orquestions.

This and other public consultation opportunities will be advertised on the project website,in local newspapers and through the project mailing list. To subscribe to the ScarboroughWaterfront Project e-newsletter, please visit the website at www.trca.on.ca/swp.

The Process

NOTICE OF SUBMISSION OFDRAFT ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT (EA)For the Scarborough Waterfront Project

Toronto and Region Conservation (TRCA)

As required under section 6.2(1) of the Environmental Assessment Act and according to the Terms ofReference approved by the Minister of the Environment and Climate Change on December 15, 2015, theScarborough Waterfront Project is releasing the Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) for stakeholder andagency review and comment in advance of the formalsubmission to the Ministry of the Environment andClimate Change for review and approval.

THE STUDY

TRCA has undertaken the Scarborough Waterfront ProjectEA for the area along the Lake Ontario shoreline betweenBluffer’s Park and East Point Park in Toronto, Ontario. Thevision of the Scarborough Waterfront Project is to create asystem of greenspaces along the Lake Ontario shorelinewhich respect and protect the significant natural andcultural features of the Bluffs, enhance the terrestrial andaquatic habitat, and provide a safe and enjoyable waterfrontexperience.The Draft EA will be available for public review and commentfrom August 17, 2017 to October 2, 2017. All commentsare to be submitted to TRCA at the physical address or emailaddress below and will be responded to in the Final EA. TheEA will be finalized and formally submitted to the Ministry ofEnvironment and Climate Change later this year.
