Appendix V: Interview with the Researcher with Mr. Krisniantara via Mr. Bio

Hadikesuma

Bio: Hello Mr. Krisniantara, my name is Bio Hadikesuma, I am here on behalf of Linda, she

would like to ask you several questions about your company, in the purpose of her thesis.

Krisniantara: Oh yes she contacted me yesterday through chat, and I prefer this for an interview,

I found it a little bit difficult for the distance and time difference.

Bio: Yes, and I am willing to help, it is also useful for my business, I can learn from you through

this conversation.

Krisniantara: Indeed.

Bio: So, basically, the information that I would like to ask are about the 7ps of your company,

also vision mission, and a bit of how you run your business professionally. Most of the

information I need is available on your website, maybe can you tell me about your uniqueness?

Krisniantara: Yes it is interesting, so our company, always try to serve food and beverages based

on the customers taste preferences. You know different region prefer a different kind of taste ya?

So once we get the order for example, ah Linda is in The Netherlands, so, for example, we got

the order a salad from Dutch, we will try to order the cheese from The Netherlands directly, or

from import shop who provide Dutch cheese to make the taste become original. Then they like it,

they satisfy, and that is what we called success.

Bio: Is that a challenge for your team to get the particular ingredients from their home country?

Krisniantara: Of course, some of the ingredients are difficult to get, but back at it again that is

our specialty that the competitor does not do. Of course not only the originality, but we also

satisfy our customer by serving the foods and beverages with an exclusive and nice presentation

to catch their attention.

Bio: Do you and your team have a special strategy to catch customer?

Kriniantara: Our Company applied this strategy for a long time, and it basically works. So, we

have a belief that to catch customer we have to make a point of their 5 human sensors. So first,

ear, Karunia have to be the topic or the preference while people talked about wedding catering.

Second, eyes, when people see our products in an event, we have to attract their by our

presentation, so they tend to get closer and try. The third is nose after they get closer, they smell

it, and they willing to try. And the last is tongue, after all the stages above, they finally try it, and

they like it. Also, we use the neon lamp under the serving dish to attract more.

Bio: That is interesting, sir. Well, back to your company, what are your vision and mission?

Krisniantara: it is short but meaningful. It is Togetherness, Prosperity, and Happiness as a family.

Bio: And what is your market segment?

Krisniantara: Well talking about the segment, you know it is a bit complicated also to define who

is our customer, right? Ok we have a customer who orders and pay, but we do not satisfy him/her,

but we satisfying the attendances. You understand what I mean?

Bio: Yes indeed.

Krisniantara: so there are three categories of catering customer. First, people want to eat a lot and

delicious food. So we have to provide enough portions. Second, people prefer a lot of choices of

food, so they can choose or they satisfy to see a lot of variety of foods. Third, both, people want

to eat delicious, a lot of choices, and also attractive plating. We decide to choose the third one as

our market segment.

Bio: what promotion strategy you have applied?

Krisniantara: well, we use newspaper that is pretty easy. We also use the high-class magazine,

the internet (Facebook and website), also the most common one is food tester.

Bio: How many people work here, sir? And how do you manage your employee?

Krisniantara: our employees are 70 people, but sometimes we also ask freelancers to help. In

total, we ask 450 freelancers. To manage the employees, I personally do not like to employ a

high graduated employee, I prefer to employ low educated employee because they are easy to

manage, and I can send them to school if it's necessary. We apply regional standard salary to

make it fair and give them BPJS. Also, we appreciate an employee who worked with us 15 years.

Bio: any activity?

Krisniantara: Sure we do. We held an outbound annually, and monthly meeting. And I do not

like if they said “everything just ok”. I want them to report every single detail they found.

Bio: The last sir, for the appearance. What is your specialty?

Krisniantara: As I said before, we use neon lamp underneath the serving dish and our employee

who in charge will use uniform, with our logo. If they do not use uniform, they will use name tag

and logo. The logo is always everywhere.

Bio: One more, could you give me information about your financial condition?

Krisniantara: I am sorry, but our financial is confidential.

Bio: Oh ok Sir I understand. Thank you very much and success for your business.

it helps me a lot for the beginning.

Krisniantara: You are welcome, Linda.

Linda: But, I really need your help for your information. To build up this research, I need your

financial condition. I do not need a monthly or yearly report, but what is relevant for me is about

your revenue, to draw up the conclusion that your face a problem which is a loss of sales in 2017.

Krisniantara: Well, I only can give you a monthly average, is that ok? And keep it in mind that

this is strongly confidential.

Linda: Sure, Om.

Krisniantara: I will give you a table that you can put in your research easily and the number of

orders like your mother told me.

Linda: Thank you very much!

Appendix VII: Interview with Mr. Bio Hadikesuma Linda: Hi Mas Bio, since you are a businessman, can I consult something with you regarding my

thesis?

Bio: Sure, go ahead.

Linda: so, the problem of my thesis is, the financial revenue of Karunia Catering is increasing or

positive, but their number of order is significantly decreasing. Is that a problem for the company?

Bio: Of course. Let me explain you something to discuss catering company. So imagine there 10

customer orders 300 portions each, then the company has to provide 3000 portions right? And

what about only 5 customers, but each of them orders 700 portions each. Also, the third, what if

they got a lot of orders but things ordered are cheap? So basically you have a problem, even your

financial is positive.

Linda: Ow yes. Thank you very much now, I have an idea to reach more and more customer

possible.
