APSS Modules:Apollo Material Design Module
Apollo Waveguide Design Module represents state-of- the-art simulationsoftware technology for optical waveguide mode solvers. Device designers canquickly process arbitrary waveguide geometry and arbitrary refractive indexprofiles, including straight and bending waveguides. The waveguide designsoftware also allows users to accurately compute basic and higher-ordermodes, guided and leaky modes, semi-vector and full-vector modes. Thismodule includes its own pre-defined waveguide library.

Example 1:The above is an illustration of an ARROW waveguide. Using Apollo WaveguideDesign Module, leaky mode and all field component (Ey,Ez,Hx) are calculated.The calculated field is shown as above.
Example 2:This example shows a Multi-Quantumwell structure with 12 layers. Designerscan easily define the ridge-shapedwaveguide based on the manufacturingprocess. Modes and all othercharacteristics of the waveguide arecalculated with Apollo PhotonicSolution Suite. The example belowshows the calculated far field pattern.
Far field pattern: The waveguidesoftware provides a far field patternfor any resolution. It also can presentother results related to the far fieldsuch as full width at half maximum,efficiency and directivity.
Overlap fields: Powerful overlapfunctions for waveguide modesenable overlap with other waveguidemodes or with additional modes suchas fiber. It also can accept user-defined mode profiles.
Equivalent index: The package alsogenerates an equivalent 2D structurefor a 2D device simulation.
Confinement factor: A confinementfactor is calculated for any region asdefined by the software user.
Alignment: Overlap can be performedeven when the structure is shifted,allowing users to align the waveguidewith a fiber or other waveguides.
Facet calculation: The waveguidesoftware provides analytical andnumerical methods for reflection andtransmission of waveguide facet withangle and with multilayered coating.
Apollo Device Design Module is the industrys most user-oriented design toolavailable, allowing designers to edit device structures quickly and easilythrough a predefined device library and run simulations automatically. Themodule has built-in libraries including multi-mode interference devices (MMI),Y-Branch, directional coupler, gratings, array waveguide gratings (AWG), starcoupler, bends, facets and gaps. It also includes simulation methods andprocedures for each of these devices.
