This wave of Leo Club of Indore has almost

reached the shore. It seems like yesterday when it had begun, then reached its peak and fi-nally gave us a lot of memories to hang on to. And now, we can see another wave of events, ideas and emotions rising in the distance. This new wave, in the form of the new Board of Members of LCI, is a young and prom-ising bunch of individuals. The Nomination Night, held on the 20th, saw these ‘Mafias’ do a fantastic parade on the fashion runway. We are hopeful that the new Board of Members, which will take charge after their in-stallation in a few months, will take LCI to greater heights.

It takes a substantial amount of time to create history, but only seconds to destroy it. Like what happened in Nepal, due to the earthquake that occurred in the afternoon of 25th April. Hun-dreds of thousands of houses were destroyed across many dis-tricts of the country, with entire villages especially, near the epi-

The worst part is, this is a very catastrophic event in a very

poor nation. Nepal, with a to-tal Gross Domestic Product of USD$19.921 billion (according

to a 2012 estimate), is one of Asia’s poorest countries, and has little ability to fund a major reconstruc-tion effort on its own. India is doing its best to support its neighbour. Let each one of us pledge to do our bit. Every penny counts.

If nothing else, let us remember them in our prayers.

Mafia it was and so was the excitement in everybody’s

mind that who’ll be the next mafia gang of Leo club of Indore.

The evening started with a game of shooting target so that every member gets into the feel of the theme and next was the present given to them in pure godfather style that made it more real, “half cut fingers of a hand”.

According to the theme the venue was dressed and so were the members, in their outfits becoming lady dons and mafia gang men.

Meeting started with our club president leo Vaibhav Khandelwal’s appreciation to the project incharges and members who contributed in the awesome events for the past month and then most senior member of the club and chairman of nomination committee Leo Kaushik Tuteja addressed the event with introduction and the procedure of nomination and the committee formed to do so.

The senior members showed their trust and elected the young board to carry on the club’s pride and to take it to a new height.

Everyone congratulated the new board elected and it was time to tap feet and come on the dance floor and show some latke jhatke and thumke. The night ended with delicious food and desserts and definitely lots of responsibilities on the new

A chocolate flower bouquet looks very impressive not only as home decoration but is just perfect as original gift for every occa-sion. And here is the step-by-step tutorial on how to make these beautiful Chocolate rose bouquets.

1. Create a base for the arrangement. Any container will do provided that you can put a material inside that will hold up your “flower” stems.

2. Choose chocolates that fit the occasion, and are firm enough to support the insertion of skew-ers or long thin sticks.

3. Press the end of the skewer that is not holding the chocolate through the center of a small square of tissue paper size 20x20cm (7.8” x 7.8”). The tissue paper can be plain or printed but should be colorful, reflect the occasion.

4. Slide the paper to the other end and pinch it into a petal formation around the chocolate. Twist and secure it at the bot-tom with adhesive tape so that it secures

its shape and Randomly push the chocolate skewers into the box or basket and Finish the bouquet with a big colorful bow or decoration of your choice, depending on the occasion..

From 2002 through 2008, Koneru held the record as the youngest woman ever to become a grandmaster (not solely a Woman Grandmaster), which she achieved at the age of 15 years, 1 month, 27 days, beating Judit Polgár’s previous mark by three months; however, this has since been surpassed by Hou Yifan.

ACCORDING TO A STUDY DONE IN LONDON, IN CHESS WOMEN PLAY WORSE AGAINST THEIR MALE COUNTERPARTS. THE SURVEY SUGGESTS THAT WOMEN FEEL INFERIOR WHEN THEY PLAY CHESS AGAINST MEN. WE ARE SURE YOU WON’T AGREE WITH THIS SURVEY. SO WHAT ARE YOUR VIEWS ON THIS?

HK: As you said, I definitely don’t agree with this survey. The number of players in women’s chess is insignificant when compared to men. This number should increase, so that there will be more competition that will enable us to strengthen women’s chess. As you can observe, now there are more women players with rating around 2500. Earlier we barely had one or two players at that rating level. I’m sure, we can find more women players at 2600 level in the future.

DO YOU THINK OUR CULTURE WILL BE ABLE TO MAKE IT MORE CONDUCIVE FOR GIRLS TO STAY IN CHESS AS THEY GET OLDER? WHAT’S NEEDED TO ACCOMPLISH THIS?

HK: In my opinion chess is more advantageous than outdoor games for girls. Excessive physical fitness is not required in chess, as is the case in other games. So, girls will be more comfortable to play irrespective of their age. Encouragement and support from family is necessary to continue their career.

WHAT BIG DO OR DON’T ADVICE WOULD YOU OFFER PARENTS OF ENTHUSIASTIC AND TALENTED CHESS CHILDREN?

HK: Parents shouldn’t compel children to play chess. If children are genuinely interested in the game, they should encourage them. But, they shouldn’t hurry to get results.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU EXERCISE? DO YOU THINK DAILY PHYSICAL EXERCISE CAN HELP A CHESS PLAYER TO COPE WITH PRESSURE AND INCREASE THE BRAIN’S ABILITY TO CONCENTRATE?

HK: I spend around one hour per day on physical exercise. Exercise is a must for every chess player. As the proverb says, “a sound mind in a sound body”. Exercise shows a lot of impact on brain.
