SC20 MEETING MINUTES Wednesday, January 27, 2010 E&P Winter Standards Meeting Intercontinental New Orleans New Orleans, Louisiana API Subcommittee on Supply Chain Management (SC20) Gary Devlin, Chair Time: 1:30 PM – 4:30 PM Opening Remarks Gary Devlin opened the meeting by welcoming attendees to the SC20 meeting. Gary let the group know that the subcommittee is open for new members. Introduction of Members Those in attendance introduced themselves. Seven voting members were present. An attendance roster was circulated and is included as Attachment 1. Review and Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes Minutes from the last meeting held in Denver at the Standards Conference were reviewed and approved. Update on Spec 20C – Closed Die Forgings The current status of Spec 20C is API is waiting on SC 20 to provide two items. The first is the License Information Form (LIF) that lists the monogrammable product(s) under Spec 20C, and the second item is instructions to licensees on the application of the API Monogram. Future of Spec 20C Questions were asked how Spec 20C will be implemented. Gary Devlin responded with four scenarios. 1. Voluntary use by forging supplier 2. Commercial requirement by an equipment manufacturer 3. Commercial requirement by end user 4. Normative reference in another API document Publicize the Availability of Spec 20C Gary Devlin solicited suggestions from the group on ways to make the API and industry community aware of Spec 20C. A lengthy discussion ensued with the following suggestions offered: Gary Devlin will prepare a presentation for the 2010 E&P Standards Conference in Washington. Gary to investigate several options for getting the the presentation on the agenda: o Technical Session o Breakfast presentation o ECS meeting Gary Devlin will prepare a presentation on the benefits of utilizing Spec 20. SC 20 members agreed to make the presentation to other API or industry committees: o Austin Freeman - SC6 o Roland Goodman to add to SC17 agenda o John Yonkers – SC19 o Mike Briggs – SC16 o NACE – Joel Russo (include in new business)

• Opening Remarks Gary Devlin opened the meeting by welcoming attendees to the SC20 meeting. Gary let the group know that the subcommittee is open for new members.

• Forging Industry Discussed methods to let forge shops know that Spec 20C is available. One suggestion was that Roland Goodman prepare letter to be sent FIA members. Include with the letter information on the API Monogram Program. Additionally, place the letter on API website in a form that individual members can retrieve and send out on their own.

o Gary Devlin to contact David Miller to send free copy of Spec 20C with letter.

• Roland Goodman to pursue adding a notice to the API Smartbrief web page that Spec 20C is available.

• Roland Goodman was asked to send Spec 20C audit questions to committee members, when finalized.

• Status of SC 20 Specs in Development

• Spec 20A - Castings Rick Faircloth, chairman of 20A WG, reported on activities to date. The first meeting was planned prior to this meeting, but only one member was able to attend and the meeting was cancelled. The first meeting will be rescheduled for late February in Houston. A proposed change in scope from the draft document was presented. Rick Faircloth then briefly reviewed the initial draft of the document.

• Spec 20B - Open Die Forgings Gary Devlin reviewed the initial draft of 20B. Joel Russo agreed to chair the 20B work group.

• Spec 20N - NDE George Hill made the status report for Chairman Jerry Longmire, who was unable to attend. Work group met on 14 January 2010 in Houston. The magnetic particle examination (MT) section was reworked. Once complete, will serve as guide for other methods. Next meeting is planned for late February. George Hill then reviewed Spec 20N to familiarize the group with the layout and general content of the document.

• Task Group: Heat Treat: Spec 20H No activity. Activity seeing a task group chairman

• Pipeline Presentation In response to the presentation of Alex Afaganisis, SC5 Line Pipe Chairman at the Denver meeting, Gary Devlin will make a presentation to SC5 on the assistance SC20 can give in developing Annex B of API 5L.

• New Business

A question was raised on incorporating in Spec 20A, criteria for acceptable radiation levels in steel castings. Rick Faircloth will discuss at the next 20A WG meeting.

• Adjourn

The meeting was adjourned at 4:20 PM
