When: Sunday, November 9th, 2014. 2-5pm 

[NOTE: Open Board Meeting, 12 Noon, APC-SF Library.]

Where: at our APC-SF Library, 2411 Octavia St., #1, SanFrancisco, CA 94109 -- located near the South West cornerof Broadway & Octavia St. (come early to find parking).

We will look at a selection of paintings from the lasttwenty years and a short video clip of the Artifacts

performance. Responses and reflections are welcome bothduring and after the presentation.

Combining landscape design drawings, architecturalelements and loosely interpreted botanical forms, thepaintings explore the canvas as container and the desire towitness both the impulsive and restrained in a single space.Some paintings depict the natural world as “ emotionalrefuge”, other images reveal the dynamic processes ofdownward growth and upward thrust, limitation and

expansion, and create a mirror of being, a kind of pictorial translation of allthe sensations that accompany our attempts to become more fully aware.

Frances McCormack was born in Boston and received her MFA from theUniversity of California at Berkeley. She is Associate Professor of Painting at the SanFrancisco Art Institute. McCormack was the recipient of the first SFAI faculty residencyat the American Academy in Rome and in 2010 curated “Silence, Cunning and Exile”for the Sonoma Valley Museum of Art. She recently collaborated with the composerKurt Rohde and the writer Sue Moon on the performance “Artifacts” which premiered atthe San Francisco Conservatory of Music in 2012. The Elins Eagles-Smith Gallery,San Francisco, the Laura Rathe Gallery, Houston Texas and the R. B. StevensonGallery, La Jolla, CA represent her work.

“Visionary Dreams about the Future”

Meredith Sabini, Ph.D., is a psychologist in the field for 40 years and formerlongtime APC member. She is a widely published writer, prize-winning poet, anddirector of The Dream Institute of Northern California.

Our warm thanks to Meredith Sabini for welcoming us at The Dream Institute ofNorthern California, in Berkeley, and for engaging a circle of 16 APC-SF Members andGuests in her presentation of “Visionary Dreams about the Future.”

She lead us to explore, with our imagination and feeling-responses, “VisionaryDreams about the Future” 

— to consider:

Visionary dreams of a collective nature, that seem to come to provideinformation, guidance, and encouragement when a nation or a people are somehow in jeopardy or at a difficult crossroads.

Just as Jung and Black Elk, both culture shamans, had prescient dreams and
