3.0 Connec vity and Walkability
A series of ‘Green Corridors’ that makes walking and cycling pleasurable will be created throughout the development. This will be underpinned by an integrated network of footpaths and shared recrea onal paths, allowing for a 10 minute walking me between home, open space and neighbourhood reserves.
The integrated network will explore poten al future connec ons beyond the development to Palmerston Town Centre and Darwin. Access to public transport and the promo on of “walkability of the development” will be incorporated.
Paths will be constructed of varying materials and designed to widths to suit a variety of uses. Paths will be lit where prac cable and comply with all relevant codes and standards. Paths will, where prac cable incorporate best prac ce in disabled use access. Typical shared recrea onal path to be 2500mm wide and pedestrian foot path to be 1500mm wide. Paths will be suitably sign posted.
Typical shared recrea onal path and pedestrian foot path fi nish to be insitu concrete pavement.

4.0 Biodiversity Corridors and Exis ng Vegeta on
A strong, integrated biodiversity framework will be established for local fauna and fl ora habita on through the introduc on of upper, mid and ground canopy corridors.
New plan ngs of indigenous trees and shrubs to promote biodiversity corridors will create links between reserves and open spaces. Exis ng vegeta on will be retained where prac cable.
Principal Corridors (Primary collector Road)Principal corridors of tree lined avenues with planted medians will be a primary feature of green corridors. Principal corridors will promote biodiversity on all upper, mid and ground levels.
Secondary CorridorsStreet tree plan ng on both sides of streets and planted verges, incorpora ng mid and ground canopy corridors to promote biodiversity opportuni es.
Ter ary CorridorsIntermi ent street tree plan ng and turfed verges where prac cable.
