    `

Full spectrum lighting emits a natural, balancedspectrum of light that is the closest you can get tosunlight indoors.

` Based on years of study not only do they bring out true,

vibrant colors but they can also ease eye fatigue, improve your mood, reduce cortisol (stress hormone)levels, slow aging of the retina and reduce glare.

` S cientific studies recognize that colors bring aboutemotional reactions to individuals.

` O ur reactions and attitudes to colors differ from personto person. That color affects us all is an undoubted fact.

` Its significance has been investigated and the resultsutilized in merchandizing, selling, home decorating, theworkplace environment, industry, plant growth, nutrition, physics, physiology, psychology, ecclesiasticism and art.

` In fact, color is so much a part of our lives that we tendto take it for granted.

` Too much noise, such as sound from equipment, tools, and people s conversation, may prevent workersconcentrating on their jobs, consequently decreasingtheir productivity.

` However, people cannot achieve good performance in asilent environment, because at some level, sound maygenerate a healthy background and can also assistemployees accomplish their work.

` Excessive noise can affect employees psychologically

due to an increase of blood pressure and metabolic rate, which in turn can decrease their productivity

  • 8/7/2019 Aom Present

    17/30

` In general, noise can influence employees while doingtheir work and the impact can be both positive andnegative. If there is soft background sound, which iscoming from instrumental music, and there is anemployee who has to tackle claims from some inpatientcustomers, the background sound in turn, will assisthim/her to become more relaxed in solving the customer

    s problems.

` In contrast, if the sound background is quite hard, whichmay develop from the telephone ringing and loudconversation among people in the same room, thissituation can hamper both the employee and customers.

` Improving the office sound can lead to increase onemployee productivity. Due to the trend of offices in thefuture being open office and smaller workplaces therewill be less space for people in the office. In turn, thiscan distract and disturb the office environment. Noise-control programs are one alternative that many officemanagements have applied in order to overcome the

    noise problems.

` Poor air quality can raise a negative impact on employeehealth in the form of respiratory problems, headaches, and, fatigue, which in the long periods will reduceproductivity.

` Indoor air quality in sealed office windows are 10 timesmore polluted than the outdoor one.

` Indoor air quality contributed 40% of absenteeismamong the workers due to some illnesses, and also, there is an increase in the number of worker s claims onrelated issues.

` The air quality contains four factors that are:temperature, humidity, ventilation, and cleanliness.

    21/30

` A comfortable office environment is a building or room inwhich workers can generate their work properly as itclean, with proper range of temperature, enoughventilation, and an adequate humidity.

` In addition, the best temperature level for work in anoffice is 68 degrees Fahrenheit. Humidity level of anoffice environment has affect on the temperature level, and recommended range of humidity level is between 40and 60%.

` An appropriate humidity level may cause some damagesto the office environments.

` Too little humidity level may causes magnetic tapes anddisks to stick during processing operation, whereas toomuch humidity, on the other hand, producescondensation on the electronic parts of the equipmentand causes short circuiting

` All offices have some type of music playing in thebackground.

` Music can affect emotional well-being, physical health, social functioning, communication abilities, and cognitiveskills.

    `

Music in the workplace, either from piped-in music or from a radio, is sometimes used to mask sounds.

` Music can provide mental stimulation while performingmonotonous tasks, which can help to reduce stress

    levels in the office.

` S ome people, however, find music in the office intenselyannoying, especially if it is too loud or inappropriate.
