Why don’t we know who the Anti-Christ is today?

He cannot be revealed until the “hindering force” is

removed: 2 Thess 2:6-7 And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own time. 7For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way.

1. The end is not in doubt! Rev 14:1 Then I looked, and behold, a Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with Him one hundred and forty-four thousand, having His Father’s name written on their foreheads. •  Jesus is standing on Mt. Zion when all is said & done – Jn 16:33 … but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.

•  The 144,000 are victorious and safe with Him – Rom 8:37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

1 Jn 5:18 We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him. Heb 12:22-23 But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, 23to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect,

2. Who said we shouldn’t have musical instruments in church?

Rev 14:2-3 And I heard a voice from heaven, like the voice of many waters, and like the voice of loud thunder. And I heard the sound of harpists playing their harps. 3They sang as it were a new song before the throne, before the four living creatures, and the elders; and no one could learn that song except the hundred and forty-four thousand who were redeemed from the earth. •  The voice from heaven – Mt 3:17 – Jesus’ baptism & 17:5 – transfiguration

•  Harpers harping – Ps 150:3-6 Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet; praise Him with the lute and harp! 4Praise Him with the timbrel and dance; praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes! 5Praise Him with loud cymbals; praise Him with clashing cymbals! 6Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord!

•  The 144,000 have a special song – Ps 33:3 Sing to Him a new song; play skillfully with a shout of joy. 40:3 He has put a new song in my mouth — praise to our God; Rev 5:9 And they (24 elders) sang a new song, saying:

3. The 144,000 Jews are a special lot Rev 14:4-5 These are the ones who were not defiled with women, for they are virgins. These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These were redeemed from among men, being firstfruits to God and to the Lamb. 5And in their mouth was found no deceit, for they are without fault before the throne of God. •  They give up marriage – Mt 19:12, 1 Cor 7:8

•  They are the “cream of the crop” of great tribulation believers

•  Can anyone be without fault before God? Js 3:2 For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body. Jude 24 Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy,

4. The “whole” gospel Rev 14:6-7 Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth—to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people— 7saying with a loud voice, “Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.” •  One gospel – 1 Cor 15:3-4 Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures 2 Cor 11:4 For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted—you may well put up with it!

Gal 1:8-9 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. 9As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.

•  Preaching angels

•  The unpopular part of the gospel – Rom 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, Rom 2:5 But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, 6who “will render to each one according to his deeds”:

5. The rise & fall of Babylon Rev 14:8 And another angel followed, saying, “Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she has made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.” •  Why Babylon? Gen 11:1-9

•  Worldwide corruption – Rev 17-18

6. The punishment of those who take “the mark”

Rev 14:9-10a Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand, 10he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. •  Taking the mark is the same as worshipping – 1 Sam 15:22-23 So Samuel said: “Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed than the fat of rams. 23For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, He also has rejected you from being king.”

Rom 6:16 Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? •  Wrath without mixture – Jn 3:36 He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” Heb 12:29 For our God is a consuming fire.

7. Is hell spiritual annihilation? Rev 14:10b-11 He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. 11And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.”

•  Torment v/s torture – Ezk 33:11 Say to them: “As I live,” says the Lord GOD, “I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why should you die, O house of Israel?” Lk 16:28 for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment. 1 Jn 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.

•  Fire & brimstone – Mk 9:43-49 If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life maimed, rather than having two hands, to go to hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched— 44wher “Their worm does not and the fire is not quenched.” 45And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame, rather than having two feet, to be cast into hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched— 46where “Their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched.” 47And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire— 48where “Their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched.” 49For everyone will be seasoned with fire,

Rev 20:15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire. •  In the presence of the angels and Jesus

•  The “smoke of their torment” – Rev 8:4 And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, ascended before God from the angel’s hand. •  No rest – Mt 11:28-29 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Heb 4:1-5 Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it. 2For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. 3For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said: “So I swore in My wrath, they shall not enter My rest,” although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. 4For He has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: “And God rested on the seventh day from all His works”

8. The patience of the saints Rev 14:12-13 Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus. 13Then I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.’” “Yes,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, and their works follow them.”

•  What is the constant consolation for believers? Rom 14:11 For it is written: “As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to Me, and every tongue shall confess to God.”

•  Payday someday – Mt 16:27 For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works. 1 Cor 9:17 For if I do this willingly, I have a reward; but if against my will, I have been entrusted with a stewardship. 2 Cor 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. 2 Jn 1:8 Look to yourselves, that we do not lose those things we worked for, but that we may receive a full reward.
