Greetings, Cluster IV Sorors,

The Sorors of Pi Theta Omega Chapter which serves the Morris County area of NJ invite you to the Cluster IV Founders’ Day Celebration. This event will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at the HANOVER MARRIOTT HOTEL located at 1401 Route 10 East, Whippany, NJ 07981. Registration & vendor shopping starts at 10:30 a.m. The luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m.

The Pi Theta Omega Chapter looks forward to hosting Cluster IV Sorors for this special celebration where we welcome

DR. ARLA J. BENTLEY as our keynote speaker and Harvard University undergraduate sensation, Soror Ify White -Thorpe.

The recommended attire for the day is BLACK with your favorite AKA Scarf. Please remember that pants, hats and boots

are not permitted during the Rededication Ceremony.

The cost for the luncheon will be $85 for graduate sorors and $70 for undergraduate sorors.

REGISTRATION IS EXTENDED TO FEBRUARY 1, 2020.

All registrations must be completed via the online registration system. Chapter Basilei may request an exception to submit a

group registration payable via chapter check, certified check or money order by February 1, 2020.

Every chapter is encouraged to support our Cluster IV service initiatives. Each participating chapter will be acknowledged

during the Founders’ Day program.

◼ WHEN IS FOUNDERS’ DAY AND WHERE WILL IT BE HELD?

◼ HOW DO WE REGISTER?

◼ IS THE LUNCHEON OPEN TO THE PUBLIC?

The luncheon is open to both active and inactive sorors. Active members are required to bring their financial card.

Non-financial Sorors must bring governmental picture identification, an expired Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® financial card or Ivy Leaf magazine that contains her name and financial card number.

◼ ARE HOTEL ROOMS AVAILABLE?

◼ WHAT IS THE ATTIRE?

The suggested attire is BLACK with your favorite AKA scarf. No pants, hats, or boots, during the Rededication Ceremony.

◼ IS THERE A COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT FOR FOUNDERS’ DAY?

Yes, every chapter in Cluster IV will have an opportunity to participate. Each Chapter is asked to coordinate their collection of shoes and eyeglasses in preparation for the Cluster IV Founders’ Day event on Saturday, February 15, 2020. For Soles4Souls, please tie pairs of shoes together with a rubber band and place in a clear gallon-size bag for collection. Donor sheets included in this packet should be used to track your submission. Each participating chapter will be acknowledged during the Founders’ Day program.

◼ WILL THERE BE VENDORS?

Yes, vendors will open at 10:30 a.m. on February 15, 2020. For vendor information, please email [email protected] c/o Founders' Day Vendors.

◼ WILL THERE BE AN AWARD TO HONOR SORORS FROM EACH CHAPTER?

Yes, the awards process will be coordinated via chapter Basilei. Award submissions are due on or before February 1, 2020.

◼ WILL THERE BE AN OPPORTUNITY FOR CHAPTER OR INDIVIDUAL PHOTOS WITH THE REGIONAL DIRECTOR?Yes, photo opportunities will be made available to all chapters and individual sorors. A proposed schedule for group photos will be announced prior to Founders’ Day. Chapters should submit requests to [email protected] by February 1, 2020.

Take the Atlantic City Expressway West to the Garden State Parkway North to Route 287 North. Follow to Exit 39, Route 10

For our 2020 Founders’ Day, we will recognize Cluster IV sorors who exemplify “...A Legacy of Service” attitude as

an Alpha Kappa Alpha woman. Recognition focused on noteworthy Community and Soror Service will be given as

follows:

Graduate Sorors: SENSATIONAL SILVERS

Undergraduate Sorors: UNFORGETTABLE UNDERGRADS

We are requesting one nomination from each chapter.

In selecting your chapter’s Service Award recipient, please include the following:

The Soror’s:

✓ Chapter and year of initiation

✓ Current chapter affiliation

✓ Photo (high resolution headshot)

THE SELECTION CRITERIA SHOULD FOCUS ON:

◼ Community involvement - Is the soror an active servant leader who impacts her community (e.g. civicengagement, school or church involvement, local and state government, non profit volunteer service,

etc.)?

◼ Has she contributed to the success and growth of her chapter through exemplary service at the local,

cluster, region and/or national level?

◼ Does the Soror serve as a Service Mentor or example for other sorors?

All honorees will be highlighted at the 2020 Cluster IV Founders’ Day Celebration to be held at the Hanover

Marriott Hotel in Whippany, NJ on Saturday, February 1, 2020.
