MUSICAL DELIGHT

The students of Grade 2 were musically inspired by an extract from The Jungle Book, where a troop of monkeys create foot-tapping music using various parts of plants and trees as musical instruments. This allowed our children to explore and share their musical talent with their peers. At the end of it, all of them enjoyed strumming their own tunes as they plucked on the strings of the DYI guitar they created by using just some rubber bands and a plastic or paper box.

OOBLECK FUN

Inspired by the timeless classic “ Bartholomew and the Oobleck” by Dr. Seuss, the students of Grade 5 enjoyed creating an ooey-gooey green oobleck with some ‘ Corn Starch Slime’. This activity became a fun way to discuss and experiment on the various states of matter as they spent a lot of time switching between solid and liquid states while creating slime.

PLANT PET

Nurturing a bond between children and nature is important to ensure that the coming generation grows up to value nature. While learning a chapter in Hindi,” Aam ki Bagiya’ the students of Grade 6 were encouraged to be proud owners of not a pet animal but a pet plant as plants make excellent companions too. ABOLISH CHILD LABOUR

The students of Grade 7 actively participated in a Hindi slogan writing activity as they were greatly moved by the poem ‘Baache kam ja rahe hai’, a poem which emphasises on the burning issue of child labour. They created bold slogans and posters denouncing child labour and advocated child rights.

SHAPE OF YOU

A strong collaboration between Art/ Craft and Math makes for a fun learning activity. With shapes all around us one can’t escape noticing them all around us. Triangles, rectangles, squares, circles and hearts-looks as if these are the templates on which the world was designed. The children of Grade 1 had a great time constructing their own world of shapes with various activities based on shapes and symmetry.

ORGAN SYSTEM

The wonders of science never fail to amaze. The students of Grade 3 enhanced their scientific knowledge and excitement towards the subject as they drew and labelled various organ systems that they learnt about during Science class.

GIRL POWER

While learning the chapter ‘Mahilaon ka apna bank’, the students of Grade 7 were asked to create a PowerPoint presentation on influential women who broke down barriers and changed our country for the better. The students showcased the lives of some true legends like Indira Gandhi, Mary Kom, Arundhati Roy, Kiran Bedi, Avani Chaturvedi, Kalpana Chawla and many more. The research done on these great women inspired our students to set their own goals to achieve greatness.

DREAM BIG

One is never too small to be ambitious. Ambition is an important tool to achieving success. It drives people to accomplish great things. While learning about ‘People Who Help Us’, the students of Grade 2 shared their ambitions for the future. This activity gave the students the chance to explore various opportunities in store for them.

PATTENS AND SYMMETRY

The students of Grade 5 had a chance to understand symmetry on a higher level, beyond lines and shapes by collaborating Art with Math. All it took was a piece of folded paper and a drop of colour to produce an interesting and exotic pattern.

DIWALI

Like all festivals celebrated during this pandemic, Diwali too was celebrated virtually. We, Choiceans, refused to let this evil situation dampen our spirits and maintained the significance of this festival; where good always conquers evil. Dressed in their traditional best, our students led the way in spreading the message of celebrating a safe, pollution free and eco-friendly Diwali. The day started with a special assembly which included music, dances, a PowerPoint presentation on how Diwali is celebrated across India and Vaishnavi Gopikrishna of Grade 7 teaching us how to make some traditional ‘mithai’. A live skit highlighted the ill-effects of crackers and the importance of maintaining social distancing norms during the festive season.

FUN WITH GRAMMAR

The students of Grade 7 displayed their culinary skills inspired by Active - Passive Voice. Representatives of both boys and girls presented their skills in preparing tea and coffee with a grammar hashtag, which helped them to comprehend the usage of passive voice in an easy manner.

FLIP CLASSROOM

A flipped classroom has proven to be a win-win situation which benefits both students and teachers. Instead of telling students what to learn and how to learn, the teacher supports the students in becoming self-directed learners. Johan Jacob Binu of Grade 6A took over as teacher during a Social Studies class. He explained the invention of the wheel during the Neolithic Age and its importance in human history.

DEBATE

Who doesn’t enjoy a good debate? What better way to enhance your Hindi vocabulary and oratory skills than through a debate. A healthy debate in Hindi broke out between the boys and girls of Grade 5 about the pros and cons of rubber, a natural material found abundantly in our state. They even used a PowerPoint presentation to support their respective cases.

ACTION WORDS

Life is full of action and ‘verbs’ are words that capture that action. The students of Grade 1 were introduced to many action words while learning the concept of verbs. It was a joy to watch the students get excited to identify and enact action words.

HAPPY CHILDREN’S DAY

“Every child is a different kind of flower, and all together, make this world a beautiful garden.”

Children’s Day is celebrated all across our country on November 14 with fun and frolic. It is one day where teachers go all out to express our love for our children in our own little way. The teachers at The Choice School Thiruvalla have proved that they are not just a one trick pony but a multi- faceted bunch who excel in every area. The teachers took ‘ Flipped Classroom ‘ to a whole

CASE STUDY PRESENTATIONS

The students of Grade 6A presented case studies on comparing any two states of India. Each student was assigned two different states thus ensuring every state of India was covered. The students compared the states based on its location by highlighting the physical features, climate, natural vegetation, food, traditional dress, etc. The research done to put their work together was commendable. The students demonstrated their creative presentation skills making use of slideshows and videos.

new level as they flipped roles and became children for the day. They went all out to ensure this would be another unforgettable Children’s Day as they put up some power-packed entertainment. The event began with a tribute to the man behind this beautiful day, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru fondly known as Chachaji. It was followed by powerful solo singing performances by Mr. Milind Joy, an ex- Choicean who was thrilled to connect with our children. The next entertainment for the day was a magic show by Mr. Suresh Anjaneyan that left our kids completely mesmerized and spellbound. The children were then delighted to see some of their teachers serenade them with their beautiful voices as they sang a medley of classic songs while some teachers danced effortlessly to popular Bollywood hits, BTS and more. The highlight of the event was the live virtual skit presented by some of our teachers who stepped into the shoes of our kids and acted out a day in a regular online class. Every student was able to identify and connect with the characters the teachers aptly portrayed. The hilarious skit had our children laughing out loud. No Children’s Day is complete without an electrifying performance by our very own Principal, Ms. Rachel Ignatius who never fails to express her love for her children through song. The children were ecstatic by the end of the celebrations and profusely expressed their joy and gratitude to their teachers through messages and calls.
