LICOA GENERAL MEETING RECORDED MINUTES January 6th, 2016 President, Thomas (Tom) Donato called the meeting to order and made the following announcements: Tom asked Ralph Rega to lead the membership in reciting the pledge along with a moment of silence for our sick and departed members and for the men and women in the armed forces. Asked members to please sign in. Asked if we had any new members: none Magazine Rack is still available. Tom said that the pictures up on the screen are from the Awards Dinner. He asked what the membership thought about the Awards Dinner. Best one ever. Chair and Co-Chairs did a fabulous job (round of applause). Said the only drawback was that once you were seated, you were planted and couldn’t really get up and mingle, that was the only downside. Food was great. Ralph Rega provided entertainment along with the DJ. Mike Fazio lip synced. Tom also asked who like the Chinese auction. We will do it again. Who liked the party favors? JoAnne, Bobby, Gino and Julie did a great job. Tom spoke about the pending lawsuit. As of the meeting the case had progressed to a certain point and stop. The plaintiff has changed attorneys which is prolonging settlement. Our attorney defends us and the insurance company. Based on conversation with the attorney the odds of hitting our insure policy limits is not at all probable. Hopefully the next time I (Tom) speaks about the case, it will be over. New Member asked to explain how law suit came about. Tom gave a very brief description. Furman Thomas said they moved to Florida and was in an accident that totaled their Corvette. Upcoming Events: Tom said that we still need Chairs for certain events. VA Bagel Runs. Need to go through Dennis Morrill or Gene Albanese. Tom said we are the custodians of the account. From now on anything/ any communication with the VA speak to Dennis or Gino. Furman Thomas said that Lyn Chin should get a round of applause for the all the work she did for the holiday bagel run for the veterans. Tom explained how she went out on Thanksgiving and purchased the sweatshirts for the veterans, wrapped them and the club distributed them to the veterans at the Dec. 19 bagel run. Tom was not aware that some of the units are in lock down. All the veterans enjoyed having the members there to talk to. 1st Atlantic Show: Tom said we will need help with the show. Mike Arrigo will chair and Mike Fazzio stepped up to co-chairs.

Tech/detailing session: Member, Tony Savino said that he was looking for Adam detailing products. He called the Mfr. and they directed him to LI Detailers on Rte. 110 in Amityville. The Manager saw Tony’s hat and asked if he is with a club. He gave Tony some tips on how to detail. Got a tour of the shop. If the club is interested in a tech session at the facility Tony can Chair the event and set up a date for some time in April. Tom said thank you to member, Jayne Cafaro for bringing in a birthday card signed by the membership and a cake for his birthday. Summer Get away 6/23 – 6/26: Barrett Jackson Auction – Mohegan Sun. Mitch Drenckhahn is still checking into hotels. Tom asked if we have anything scheduled as far as a technical session, possibly with the Vette Doctors. Mangano Show: Mark Tully said that he was contacted by the Project Mgr. for the Ed Mangano car show. They will have a Corvette only show on Saturday, Sept. 25th. It’s still in the planning stages. Tom asked if everybody is on board with it – Yes. Gene Albanese will help Mark as a Co-Chair. Mark will do most of the work but he will not be attending. Bristal Display: Jimmy Shand announced that the Administrator of the Bristal is no longer employed there. Jimmy will inquire with the new administrator if they still want to do the display show again and if so, will get a date. Jimmy will Chair the event. Donations: Tom said John will speak about it in his report (re: Newsday and Marty Lyons). Report of Officers: VP, & Internet Chair, Ed Stichweh: Ed said at that if you are not receiving email, eblasts or the E-courier to contact him. The award pictures are up on the website. Ed told Gino that there was an issue with the CD. Dennis Rosenthal asked if there was any way to slow up viewing the pictures on the internet – Ed said no. Sec., Lyn Chin: Lyn asked everyone to sign in. She thanked everyone who participated at the VA Holiday Bagel Run along with the NY 5th Gen Camaro Group. The veterans were very appreciative to get the presents. Bowling Event, January 30th: Lyn explained, like last year, the NY 5th Gen Camaro Group has challenged LICOA to a Bowling Charity Event. The cost is $20.00 per person (covers bowling, shoes, pizza, soda, 50/50 and a portion goes to charity). She hopes that we will have a better turnout of bowlers than last year. Last year there was only a handful of LICOA members that participated. Flyers are on the table. Treasurer, John DiBlasi: John delivered a very detailed end of year financial report and indicated any member who would like a copy of the report to let him know. Tom said John did a great job. The club is very healthy. The trailer will get wrapped and we may change the way the donations are given. Tom explained the “Not for Profit”. Gene Albanese said it was an excellent report. Governor, Bob Spinicchia: Bob wished everyone a Happy New Year. Also said thank you to John DiBlassi on the report. Bob explained that he has been in many clubs and never had a detailed report like this. He said if you have any suggestions on things for the club to do, let him know. Bob will be out of town, but will see everyone in February. 1st Alternate & By law Committee Chairman, Gene Doyle: Absent 2nd Alternate, Mike Arrigo: Nothing to report. Report of Appointed Officers: Membership Chair, Gene Albanese: Gene said 345 paid members. Gene mailed out the membership dues renewal letters which includes the sticker for membership card. Received 215 renewals. Newsletter Editor, Rick Erdody: Rick said it’s up and running. Courier is almost done. He received some articles. The “For Sale” is almost down to nothing. Tom said if anyone wants to write a little article – send it to Rick. Tom revisited “what does the membership think about going electronic with the Courier”. It cost $4,500.00 to process the Courier. A discussion was held and Tom said that he would table it for the next meeting. Rick Erdody said it’s a BOD discussion. Tom said come to the next BOD meeting to discuss further. He said he would like to take the $4,500.00 and put it back into the club. Senior Judge, Rick Erdody and Gene Doyle: Rick said will have to have a judging tech session and will come up with a date. Still have a lot of open issues. Asked if the BOD wants to do another All Chevy Show again? Tom asked the membership and they said yes. End of report. Qualifying Judges, Harry Hendrickson, Jeff Claxton, Ed Bradley & Bob Spinicchia: No report. Merchandise Chair, Tom Benson: Karen Benson said Happy New Year to everyone. Spoke to the vendor again about the shirts and will be going back to “Fruit of the Loom” garments. She will get a sample for the February meeting. She has a few orders but more orders can be placed. Equipment, Gene Albanese & Scott Stange: Gene said that he hasn’t been to the trailer and asked if Scott Stange has been there – Scott said no but will look into it. Show Coordinators, Joanne Yakkey & Joe Esposito: Joanne is absent. She talked to Ronnie and is firming up the dates for the Atlantic and Huntington Shows. The Huntington showroom is gorgeous - traffic is busy. Rick Erdody said someone has to go to the building and look around at the spacing. Phil Kalmus said it is very close to the street. Tom said he went there after the last show and it’s narrow and there is 70 spaces, 40 spaces behind the building. EMRA REP., Jim Shand: Ed Bradley said thank you to the BOD for the Time Trial Trophy and the EMRA’s Brunch will be on January 23rd. Jimmy Shand said that there’s nothing to report but when he gets the new schedule he will send it to Rick. Carlisle: Gene Albanese said that LICOA has been moved to Section C. Everyone in the first 3 rows were moved. They wanted to make room for Fun Field.

NCM Delegate, Dennis Morril & Gene Albanese: Gene said that Dennis Morrill went to the plant and they added 28,000 sq. ft. for the paint section. GM is spending $15.1 million in upgrading all their plants. Museum sink hole is all filled in as of July. Good & Welfare, Bob Spinicchia: Nothing to report. Historian, Bob Pandy: Bob also said Happy New Year. Nothing to report. Announce that the picture boards are up for the members to view. Gene Albanese said nice job. VA Liason, Gene Albanese and Dennis Morrill: Gene said that Dennis went for pre-op testing. Trying to schedule bagel run for March/April. Tom said can he ask Dennis or Gene to give an accounting – like last year. New Business: February 7th, 2016 Valentine Day Brunch: Tom said about 20 people have registered for the Valentine’s Day Bruch which will be held at Black House in Melville. Last year it was packed. Open Floor Discussion: Sue Perna asked if anyone else was having problems with their door(s) on their 2016. 50/50: sold by Phyllis Furman and Diane DiBlassi Ed Bradley picked the winning # - $81.00 to winner, Ed Hollie Motion to adjourn meeting. Dec. 19th Holiday Veteran’s Bagel Run To all of the LICOA members and the NY 5th Gen Camaro Group who participated at the Holiday Bagel Run on December 19th, 2015, thank you for all your help. It was a huge success! For the holiday Bagel Run, we used funds from the VA Account to purchase 166 sweatshirts and bagels. My sons, Kendell, Brandon and I went out Thanksgiving night to purchase the sweatshirts since the stores were having such great sales. We wrapped them in holiday paper, labeled and packaged them by units. Once again thank you to Vinny Cappasso who frequents Dominic’s Italian Deli in New Hyde Park and Dominic was gracious again and donated the rolls to the Veterans Bagel Run. Kendell and I met up with the NY 5th Gen Camaro Group and transferred the bags of presents into his members’ vehicles while we took all the bagels in Kendell’s SUV. We then caravanned out to the VA Facility in Northport, where the LICOA members gathered and came out to help us unload all the cars. Gene Doyle, Vinny Cappasso and some other LICOA members stayed at the main facility and served the veterans there, while Dennis Morrill and other members walked to the other units and hand delivered the food and presents since those veterans were are not able to attend. CLC3 (bldg. 8) had to leave early for an outing; so Kendell Chin of the NY 5th Gen Camaro Group and his members helped by bringing the bagels and presents to the unit and serving them their bagels and distributing the presents and the members were able to chat with the veterans. LICOA members, Gil Strack, Helen and David Weinstein and I went to CLC4 (bldg. 8) to serve those veterans and distribute presents to them. Since some of the veterans on that floor were not able to come to the lunch room, Gil and I went around to the different rooms and took their orders and then went back and delivered their food and presents. It is a very rewarding feeling to do this for our veterans especially at the holiday season and to see the smiles on their faces when they opened their present. Thank you to all our Veterans at the VA Facility and to all the veterans who are members of LICOA and NY 5th Gen Camaro Group that have served or are serving in the armed services. LICOA’s 56th Annual Awards & Holiday Celebration by Joanne Yakkey

The LICOA Awards Dinner was held on December 12th at Verdi’s in Westbury. This year’s dinner was attended by 150 members/guests which was a huge response. The evening began with a magnificent cocktail hour, which was held in the ballroom to everyone’s surprise and delight as all had a place to sit. There was endless eating, drinking and dancing to the sounds of DJ Rob from PrimeTime and our very own LICOA Entertainer, singer Ralph Rega, who was absolutely fantastic.

Tenure member badges were given by the BOD members in attendance, President Tom Donato, Vice President Ed Stichweh and Treasurer John DiBlasi, to members who have achieved 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 years. This year a Lifetime Member Badge was given to our Newsletter Editor, Senior Judge and member of many talents, Rick Erdody. Rick also received the Lifetime Service Award for all he has contributed to LICOA over 25-years. Congratulations on a wonderful accomplishment and a job well done!
