ABOUT Another Crush is an alternative rock band out of Hamilton. They sound like nothing you’ve heard, yet it's like you’ve known them forever. Smooth vocals, chunky guitar riffs and heart rending tones, like if fuzzy peaches were a band. They are Heather Valley (vocals + guitar), Taylor Roberston (lead guitar) & Dave Habza (bass). BIOGRAPHY & SOUND This band should not exist. Heather was a practicing lawyer. Dave had an MBA and Taylor had been accepted to business school. Dave had the idea of creating a revival 90s alternative rock band, but a series of parallel tragedies made it something much deeper. Heather had a breakdown after her con man ex was arrested in front of her at the US border, and Taylor's immediate family passed away in a tragic plane crash. They had lost everything. They transmuted their pain through song, creating Another Crush, a band about the things in life that you crush on and that crush you. Their sound is nostalgic with a fresh twist, marked by velvet vocals, catchy melodies and soaring solos. Their lyrics relay the difficulty in living with yourself, living with others, and in carrying on without them. THEMES They explore timeless themes, including love, delusion, vulnerability, the blues, how well you can know another person, and wishing you could go back to a simpler time — if there was one. INFLUENCES Their main influences are the Smashing Pumpkins, Haim, Dinosaur Jr, Julie Doiron, Black Sabbath and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. A N O T H E R CRUSH

    A N O T H E R CRUSH

  • ACCOMPLISHMENTS The band formed in Hamilton in May 2018 and began playing shows across Ontario in August 2018. In November 2018 they released a live video performance of their song “Here You Are” and got 6,000 Facebook views in a week. In December 2018 they headlined the Indie 88 Nu Music Night at the Horseshoe Tavern, recorded a track live in front of a sold-out live audience at Revolution Recording and received a glowing letter of recommendation from legendary producer Ron Saint Germain.

In February 2019 they were selected to play the Hamilton stop of the Jim Beam Canadian Music Week Talent Search.

On May 3, 2019 they released their first single, “Empty Promises” to critical acclaim. It premiered on Live in Limbo, and featured on CBC Radio’s “In the Key of C”, the Tinnitist Indie Roundup, the Mystic Sons (UK) New Music Discovery, Gig Soup, The Punk Site (US), Hot Lunch, and many more. It was picked up by CBC, commercial radio, numerous campus stations, internet radio and Spotify playlists. It has 8000+ views on Facebook, and 1k+ on Youtube. Since then they have toured the single, opened for Skye Wallace and are currently playing summer festivals.

Their next single, Hope You're Happy, drops July 19, 2019, and their EP drops in October 2019. Their producer is Thomas McKay (Joydrop) at Exeter Sound Studios, mix engineer is Juno-winner Vic Florencia, and mastering engineer is Phil Demestro of Lacquer Channel. They are actively seeking representation, booking widely, and planning a national tour.

WEIRD BUT TRUE Heather was a lawyer, Dave runs a Star Wars page & Taylor was originally a bassist!
