Do You Need a Vacation? How About a Get-Away Weekend? Give yourself and your spouse time away from the pressures of work and everyday responsibilities. Want something more lasting than a weekend vacation in Bermuda or the Mountains? Enjoy
a chance to talk and listen to that special person who loves you! Make time to enrich your relationship by attending a Worldwide Marriage Encounter Weekend. The next Weekend in the diocese is scheduled in Cullman, May 20-22 at St. Bernard’s Abbey. You can get more information or register online at www.ALFL-wwme.org or by calling Bob & Joy Hernandez at 678-985-0125.
ST. ANN OUTDOOR CLASSROOM
The parish engaged a contractor to construct an outdoor classroom on the site adjacent to the north end of the classroom building of St. Ann School. Unfortunately, the retaining wall for the classroom was not built in compliance with the plans and specifications and, therefore, must be deconstructed and reconstructed. The remedial work is scheduled to be completed within about a month’s time, weather permitting. If you are aware of any contractors that would be interested in helping us with this project, please contact the Parish Office.
Missing chairs? You have likely noticed that we removed the front two rows of chairs in our sanctuary. This change allows much more room for our liturgical celebrations. Please note that at this time we have begun to open up Room B to not only make up for the eliminated chairs, but also to add more seating at all of our weekend Masses. Thank you for your patience.
Thank you Anne Werling and her team to all
who provided hospitality and food to our guests at the Tom McGrath/Jared Beasley ultra marathoner event and to Connie Schneider and her team for making the reception for Father Bazzel so very nice. Once again, your generosity and talent made many feel welcome at Annunciation. Your kindness is appreciated!
New Scrip Retailer! Academy Sports +
Outdoors has joined the Scrip family, offering a rebate of 4%. Look for it at the Scrip table in denominations of $25. Thank you to all who purchase Scrip! New to Scrip? Sponsored by Knights of Columbus Council 3986 On Saturday, April 23rd, a maximum of 5,000 gliders will fall from the sky on the Annunciation of the Lord Church property and will make one person up to $10,000 richer! The council will be holding the ninth annual Knight Flight in conjunction with the St. Ann Seafood Festival on Saturday, April 23rd. The Knights of Columbus is a fraternal organization of Catholic men who provide labor and funding for many events at St. Ann School, Annunciation of the Lord parish, and other non-profits.
Here’s how it works: Gliders will be sponsored by individuals for $10 each or 6 for $50. On April 23rd, all
sponsored gliders will be released from a crane and the gliders landing closest to the marked targets will win the indicated prizes. There will be as many as 8 prizes including a $5,000 or better first prize depending on the number of gliders sold. Details and rules are available at knightflight.org.
Here’s how you can help: Purchase ticket(s) by completing this form and returning with payment to the parish
office or from any Knight. Checks should be made payable to Knights of Columbus Council 3986. You will be assigned a glider number and given a ticket stub that includes a coupon for BOGO large Domino’s pizza purchased at regular price. Return ticket stubs and checks to the parish office in person or by dropping it in the offertory basket at Mass. Thank you for considering this worthy endeavor. Good luck!!!
Tickets are $10 each or 6 for $50. Make checks payable to Knights of Columbus Council 3986.
Drop tickets and money in the offertory basket at Mass or in person to parish office.

DON’T MISS OUT ON THE FLOOD OF GRACES OF
DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY April 3, 2016
3:00 PM in the Church
On the first Sunday after Easter we celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday celebrating a very special request for each of us to come and share in the ocean of His Divine Mercy that Our Lord has revealed to Saint Faustina. Jesus is offering the complete remission of sins and all the punishment due for them that is equal to the graces provided when you received Baptism. This is an astonishing spiritual gift. Additionally, you can also gain a Plenary Indulgence. Examine just a few of the many revelations and promises that Jesus imparted to the humble Saint Faustina regarding His love, mercy, and compassionate forgiveness for every soul: “...tell the whole world of My great mercy; that whoever approaches the Fount of Life on this day will be granted complete remission of sins and punishment.”
“I want to grant a complete pardon to the souls that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion on the Feast of My mercy.” “Whoever places their trust in My mercy will be filled with My divine peace at the hour of death.” “My mercy is greater than your sins, and those of the entire world.” “I promise that the soul that will venerate this [Image of Divine Mercy] will not perish.” “O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of Mercy for us, I trust in You.” “The two rays denote Blood and Water. The pale ray stands for the Water that makes souls righteous. The red ray stands for the Blood which is the life of souls...These two rays issued forth from the very depths of My tender mercy when My agonized Heart was opened by a lance on the Cross.” “Mankind will not have peace until it turns to the Fount of My Mercy.” “Before the Day of Justice, I am sending the Day of Mercy.”
“My daughter, do whatever is within your power to spread devotion to My mercy.” “Be always merciful as I am merciful. Love everyone out of love for Me, even your greatest enemies, so that My mercy may be fully reflected in your heart.” “Even if there were a sinner most hardened, if he were to recite the Chaplet only once, he would receive the grace from my Infinite Mercy...when they say the Chaplet in the presence of the dying, I will stand not as the just judge, but the Merciful Savior.” “Write, My daughter, that I am mercy itself for the contrite soul. A soul’s greatest wretchedness does not enkindle Me with wrath; but rather, My Heart is moved towards it with great mercy.”
“With souls that have recourse to my Mercy and with those that glorify and proclaim My great mercy to others, I will deal according to My infinite mercy at the hour of their death.” “Every time you go to confession, immerse yourself entirely in My mercy, with great trust...know this, that I Myself am waiting there for you. I am only hidden by the priest, but I Myself act in your soul. Here the misery of the soul meets the God of mercy. Tell souls that from this fount of mercy souls draw graces solely with the vessel of trust. If their trust is great, there is no limit to My generosity. The torrents of grace inundate humble souls. The proud remain always in poverty and misery, because My grace turns away from them to humble souls.”
“My great delight is to unite Myself with souls. Know, My daughter, that when I come to a human heart in Holy Communion, My hands are full of all kinds of graces which I want to give to the soul. But souls do not even pay any attention to Me; they leave Me to Myself and busy themselves with other things. Oh, how sad I am that souls do not recognize Love! They treat Me as a dead object.” “Fear nothing...before I made the earth, I loved you throughout the centuries. My love will never change.” Share in the unfathomable Divine Mercy that Our Lord makes available to all souls on the Feast of Divine Mercy. He is asking us to come with love and trust of his compassionate mercy that is so generously offered from the depths of his sacrifice of eternal love.

Stewardship
“Think of what is above, not of what is on earth.” [Col 3:1-2] We realize that anything we have here on earth is not nearly as important as being with Christ. Once we realize that, sharing what we have is easy.

Attention Alabama Taxpayers
As you review your Alabama taxes this season, please consider planning for your 2016 Scholarships for Kids contribution to help St. Ann School. Ask your tax advisor about the possibility of lowering your state income tax payroll withholding and re-directing that amount to a savings account for a contribution to a Scholarship Granting Organization. The Alabama Accountability Act allows dollar-for-dollar state income tax credits for donations to approved SGOs (which also qualify as 501(c)3 organizations).
Please go to www.alabamakids.net to learn how to take advantage of this unprecedented opportunity for Alabama taxpayers and St. Ann School.
St. Ann Catholic School is accepting applications for the 2016-17 school year. Applications may be picked up at the school, Information Desk, or downloaded at www.saintanndecatur.org. If you would like more information about the school, please call and make an appointment to visit. Mr. Weimer will be glad to discuss all options.
