Having merged with Counseling more than a year ago, the school in theory has no

one, in the absence of a demerit system.
The rationales for not having a demerit system are
• Forgiveness and acceptance by the school
• Self reflection and self discipline on the part of all students
“I would be true, for there are those who trust me”
“I would be pure, for there are those who care”

[All supported in principle the need to

[Attendance ranged from 78-100%.]
[Teachers’ evaluation of the programs
varied from acceptable to excellent.]

importance of the latter and thus too
easily sacrificing the former. ~40%
admitted using the latter as an excuse

 ~ 20% students did
not appear to fully
understand the true
meaning of service.
Efforts would be
stepped up to convey
the joy and
significance of
helping others, as
opposed to the
testimonial evidence
of services rendered.
 With ~ 12% students
having emerged as
being good to
outstanding in serving
others, they should be

beneficial. It is
recommended that an

won was up ~35%.
 All honored

among all staff

credit given to all,
instead of
diverting the
glamour on the
winners alone.
This would
nurture an even

in guiding their
peers who attempt
to obtain similar

development.]
Core subjects tutorials (for the junior
forms)
[Average attendance ~ 90%]
[There were requests to extend the
tutorials to other subjects
 Small group / One-on-one mentoring
[Parent attendance ~ 95%; student
 ~70% participants
demonstrated
improvement in
attitudes, exam
performance and
relationship with
parents / teachers.
 There was
enormous
difficulty in
recruiting tutors,
helpers and
mentors. A bigger
budget for this
effect could offer
some relief.
 Closer teacher-
student and
parent-student
relationships were
established in
these programs.
22
attendance >90%]
 High achievers support
[Positive feedback from both
students and teacher mentors]
Whole-person
growth
Programs included but were not limited to

of the tours, as well as pre- and post-
tour tasks and activities.]

camps
[Attendance 100%]
[External Trainers feedback -
positive, plenty of potentials in the

program, guidance service, Form
teacher periods
[Form Teachers’ feedback: time
limitation, material resources & peer
collaboration could be enhanced]
[Social worker feedback: very
positive parent support]
 Sharing by
students after the
overseas tours
was positive and
inspiring. There
could be a
financial element
standing in the
way of sustaining
the tours.
 Students who won
travel scholarship
must learn to be
grateful, and must
realize that they
won not only
because they were
good, but also
because of all the
fund-raising work
and trip
preparation work
the teachers had
done, and the
support of the
donors.
 Leadership
training was
mainly for elected
or appointed
student leaders
and students in the
senior forms, and
could be extended
to include junios
students.
 Form teacher
periods could be
better organized
for this purpose.
 Attendance and
participation
could be further
improved with
better scheduling
of programs to
23
avoid clashes with
students’
academic
responsibilities.

major difficulty.
• The responsibilities
could add to the
already heavy
workload of
teachers, but it is an
effort definitely
worth pursuing.
