ANNUAL REPORT OF EIRC (2020-2021)

The Eastern India Regional Council (EIRC) of The Institute of Chartered

Accountants of India (ICAI) takes pleasure in presenting its Annual Report for the period from 1st April 2020 to 31st March 2021.

The EIRC was privileged to serve members in the Eastern Region (24926 members

as on 15th Feb, 2021).

At the Eighth meeting of the 23rd EIRC of ICAI held on 26th February, 2021 the following office-bearers were elected for the year 2021-22:

5] LECTURE MEETINGS, SEMINARS, WORKSHOPS & CONFERENCES ETC.

During the period from 1st April, 2020 to 31st March, 2021 EIRC of ICAI organized, virtually, several Seminars, Workshops & Conference to further the cause of professional and technical development of its members and students.

These learning initiatives included subjects and issues relating to the CA profession. The relevant information pertaining to the same were also disseminated to the members from time to time and were hosted on the EIRC

Website www.eirc-icai.org. A summary of the month wise CPE Hours generated and the important programs organized is given in Annexure I.

6] ANNUAL SIGNATURE EVENTS

a) 45th Regional Conference - EIRC

EIRC organised its Two day 45th Regional Conference in Kolkata on 19th and

20th January 2021 which was administered from ITC Royal Bengal Hotel,

Kolkata. The programme was held in hybrid mode that is both virtually and

physically. For the first time in the history of EIRC ever a Conference was held

in hybrid mode. The theme of the Conference was “CA – Crusading the New

Normal”. The Chief Guest was His Excellency Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, Governor

of West Bengal. The Conference hosted by Regional Council of EIRC of ICAI

and was inaugurated in the presence of President of ICAI. The Conference

hosted various topics on contemporary issues deliberated by eminent speakers

from various parts of the world some of whom also joined through virtual

mode. Around 2200 professionals participated in the Conference. Parallel

72nd Chartered Accountants’ Foundation Day was celebrated on 1st July 2020. The following activities were performed:

d) Independence Day Celebrations

74th Independence Day was celebrated by Hoisting of the National Flag at ICAI

Bhawan, 7 Russell Street, Kolkata -700 071. Virtual performance on patriotic songs and dance by members on 15th & 16th August 2020. Members

participated from various Chapters, Study Circles, Study Groups and Branches of the Region. The programme was attended by all Regional Council Chairmen. On the occasion of Independence Day, “Contest of Minds and Hearts” was

organised which featured competition on Poster designing, Creative writing -

Poem, Essay, Slogan, Short Story, Song by the members of EIRC. The winners were

EIRC Awards distribution ceremony was organised on 26th February 2021 at the Park Hotel

h) Felicitation Programme

Felicitation Programme was organized on 26th February 2021 at the Park Hotel to felicitate CA Nihar Niranjan Jambusaria, President, ICAI virtually and also to felicitate CA (Dr.) Debashis Mitra, Vice President, ICAI who was physically present

in the programme.
