Dear Catherine Place family,

The past year has been one of growth for Catherine Place. We have grown our programs, our staff, and our board. This process has been filled with intention and love. We have so many things to celebrate.

Our Circle practice has expanded and we’ve trained over 20 new facilitators in the Circle Way. We’ve welcomed Mary Bryan as our new Care Advocate, supporting women with one on one attention. We’ve also welcomed five new board members!

I’m deeply grateful to be in a place where so many loving, caring, inspirational women gather. We have remarkably dedicated staff, volunteers, and community partners all coming together to support women with needs ranging from a listening ear to food and shelter.

The board and staff have been working on our strategic plan and encourage your feedback on how we’re doing with our goals:

1. Sustainability: Broadening our network to strengthen community connections, sustain operations, and fulfill our purpose.

2. Consistency & Quality: Ensuring all staff, volunteers, and contractors demonstrate the values, knowledge, and skills necessary to ensure consistent high-quality services.

3. Intergenerational Transmission of Feminine Perspectives: Enhancing opportunities for diverse women of all ages to ignite positive personal change and build community.

Catherine Place continues to flourish because of you – our devoted friends and supporters. Thank you for being such a generous and compassionate community. Together we are improving quality of life for women!

Hope, Healing and Connection...for more than 1,650 women

w Provided over 750 hours of confidential support, advocacy and resources to 98 women in Spanish and 115 women in English

w Offered over 500 hours of education, leadership training and inspiration to women from Pierce, King, Thurston and Mason Counties through weekly groups

HopeIndividual Support & Advocacy: Women receive information, education and resources related to their specific needs in a supportive, home like environment. While appointments are encouraged, drop ins are accepted during open hours (typically 10 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday).

HealingHealing Arts: Specialized healing services promote relaxation and self-care, including; reiki, biomat, acupuncture, and aromatherapy.

We also offer workshops where women can experience new art forms, alternative healing, and spiritual growth in a supportive environment.

w Four Healing Arts practitioners provided over 80 hours of services.

Thank you to our 51 amazing volunteers and interns who donated over 3,320 hours of their time!

ConnectionSupport Groups & Circles: Women provide and receive encouragement and support from peers.

Groups meet regularly and are offered in English and Spanish. Visit catherineplace.org/events for a complete listing of groups.

‘Yes, We Can’ and ‘Si, Se Puede’ are leadership training in the Circle model. Circles foster development of voice through a model of shared leadership and rotating responsibility.

w Served 58 Latinas through “Juntas en Trancision” (Together in Transition), Pierce County’s only ongoing domestic violence prevention support group offered in Spanish

w Offered 31 hours of leadership, community building and communication training through 7 interactive workshops

w Had 9 events with over 250 guests celebrating empowerment of women

w Partnered with over 40 local service providers to support women in need

In the 2018-19 fiscal year we exceeded revenue projections in every area. Catherine Place is growing our operating reserve as we know our beautiful house will need much maintenance in the coming years.
