in just four short years, the Women’s Fund of South Central Kentucky will have distributed more than $342,000 to thirteen worthy orga-nizations that benefit women and children—that is incredible! The Community Foundation has expertly managed our constantly grow-ing endowment fund, and it is now around $500,000, and will make a significant contribu-tion to each grant total now and forever.

Many local businesses have sponsored various events which have contributed to the growth of the grant total and administrative fund, and we are so grateful for their support. The more people learn about what the Fund is doing, the more people want to join us in our effort to improve the lives of the less fortunate.

I would like to thank the women who serve on the Advisory Board, Marketing Committee, Grants Committee, and the Annual Dinner Committee for their time and effort to keep us focused and on track to build upon our success. We will continue to look for ways to improve our methods and procedures so that the Women’s Fund can most effectively and efficiently move into the future.

Thank you for your membership in the Women’s Fund, and for your concern for our great community. With over 360 women working together, we ARE making an impact now and forever!

Sincerely—Stacey Sims, Chair

Haven4Change, Inc. provides safe, sanitary, and affordable housing with supportive services in a nurturing environment with the goal of facili-tating and encouraging successful recovery from substance abuse and its related barriers. The Haven4Change program is unique because of its ability to offer low rent housing to 17 recovering substance-abusing women and their children, enabling the family unit to be maintained.

Since beginning the project in October 2015, they have served 40 women with 18 children residing at the facility and an additional 38 children coming for visits. The women have been between the ages of 19 and 48. Twelve of the residents came from Warren County and the remainder from counties throughout Kentucky. So far, 6 women have graduated the program during this time period and had 3 drug-free babies born. Currently there are 17 women and 7 children residing at the facility with 13 children coming for visits. In spite of the moving, rearranging and noise during the renovations, all residents have expressed how pleased they are with the results.

The 2015 Impact grant of $85,000 allowed Haven4Change to refurbish the entire facility. From a new roof to interior demolition of the old tile and carpet, installing new flooring, painted interior, cabinetry repaired, new living room furniture, appliances, chest of drawers and bedding was accomplished.

Haven4Change received a great deal of recognition and exposure due to being awarded the Impact Grant. It increased awareness about the disease of addiction and its devas-tating effects on family. More importantly, it shows recovery is possible! Because of the exposure, many citizens have offered and provided assistance to Haven4Change.

All residents have expressed how pleased they are with the results of the project. The ladies take pride in their surroundings and feel safe, which is vital to beginning the recovery process. The goal is always to empower the residents to make better choices for their lives and their children. Understanding that a comfortable, safe environment contributes to improved self-worth and self-esteem as they learn to live a life free of alcohol and drugs.
