INTRODUCTION

Greetings from Sportable Headquarters! I hope this finds you well.

Sportable had a tremendous year in 2015 thanks to the effort put forth by our entire extended family – athletes, volunteers, partners, funders, advocates & staff. Some of our highlights include:

• Provided 3,184 Program Hours and 1,581 Athlete Experiences to 253 unique Athletes• Reached over 5,000 students throughout Richmond through our Changing Perceptions Program• Had 278 volunteers gave nearly 2,500 hours to Sportable athletes and programming• The Sportable Spokes, our youth wheelchair basketball team, competed in the National Wheelchair Basketball Championships for the first time and finished 25th in the nation• Sportable athlete Alexa Halko was named to the 2015 United St ates Paralympic Track & Field Team• Worked with nearly 30 community partners to provide 12 sport programs and special events

We are incredibly proud of what we accomplished in 2015 and look forward to building on these achieves in 2016 by serving more athletes and having an even greater impact. We are confident in our ability to do more because we believe we have such a tremendous support group – tremendous athletes, volunteers, supporters, and advocates that make our success possible. Together we are changing the lives of those with physical disabilities and visual impairments through sport.

What We’re AboutWe don’t just provide adaptive sports and recreation opportunities in Richmond, Virginia.The reason Sportable exists is to transform the lives of people with physical and visual disabilities through sport! We know that is a bold claim and some might question whether we can really achieve that mission. Our response – come meet our athletes, hear their stories, watch them when they are in their “zone”. We can guarantee they would agree that in some way a transformation has occurred.
