About The Organization In the past few decades, advances in IT have brought tremendous growth and benefits to our

genera�on. However, these benefits are not reaching all equally or if reaching, reaching too

slowly. In order to fill this gap Pratham InfoTech Founda�on emerged in the year 2004.

Pratham InfoTech Founda�on (PIF) is a non-profit organiza�on that works in India to bridge the

digital divide, facilitate the adop�on of informa�on technologies (IT) in educa�on, and equip

disadvantaged youths with skills, tools and capabili�es that the new global economy demands.

Affiliated with Pratham, an NGO that works to provide quality educa�on to the

underprivileged children of India, PIF runs IT based training, educa�onal and community

capacity building programs in underserved schools and communi�es. Pratham InfoTech

Founda�on is commi�ed to ensuring “e-educa�on for all”.

School Based IT Programs

Computer Aided Learning (CAL)

Computer Aided Learning (CAL) is a pedagogy technique that uses informa�on

technologies within or side-by-side tradi�onal classroom environments. The learning

aids, like computer educa�onal games and interac�ve training tutorials, which are used

as supplementary materials, build a more engaging, informa�ve and personalized

learning experience. The program aims at providing appropriate exposure to school

children at an early age by simplifying the understanding of new or difficult concepts, by

developing competencies for learning and making early childhood learning a more

enjoyable experience that indirectly interests children in studying and schooling.

Digital literacy is fundamental to success in the new global economy and open

democra�c society. Therefore, the organiza�on terms digital literacy as a life skill. The aim

is to ins�ll the skills and abili�es in secondary school students on effec�ve use of IT tools

in everyday life. The organiza�on has designed project-based curriculum on using

so�ware applica�ons, the Internet and communica�on tools in day-to-day ac�vi�es.

Remedial Education (Student Enrichment Program)

Student Enrichment Program focuses on the students who are at high risk of

academic failure in secondary school educa�on. The program aims to raise the

academic performance of secondary students in subjects such as Math, Science

and English. A�er successful comple�on of the secondary educa�on, the students

who show interest are enrolled for voca�onal training courses.

Currently the program is running in 40 schools in parts of Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Pune and Nashik, covering 1200 students.

71 students were given scholarships for Minimum Competency Voca�onal Course.

175 out of 223 students passed in the SSC board examina�ons. Career guidance seminars and workshops were conducted for these students.

Three day long Science exhibi�on was held in all the 40 schools by Std. 8,9, 10 students.

(Student Enrichment Program)

Informa�on technologies have a great poten�al to supplement tradi�onal teaching environment.

The poten�al of informa�on technology in improving the effec�veness of teaching must be

harnessed.

The e-Learning program focuses on engaging school teachers and encouraging them to use

technology to teach students. Interes�ng digital content material on subjects like Science, Math,

English and Social Studies are shared with the teachers.

In the e-Learning program, the students are taught using innova�ve pedagogy like showing audio

visuals, ac�vity based etc. The teachers are given training by Pratham InfoTech Founda�on on

making use of different media available in order to enhance student par�cipa�on for effec�ve

learning. This program is run in low income private, aided and Government schools.

e-Learning Program

OutcomeThe program has been running in 125+ schools in parts of Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Pune, Nasik, Talasari and Gurgaon in partnership with WNS global services limited and L&T Public Charitable Trust.

This year 400 school teachers have been trained to incorporate the use of e learning tools in their everyday classrooms sessions.

Saksham ProgramThrough this project Pratham InfoTech Founda�on partners with reputed NGOs or professionals to design and implement training modules on subject content in Math, Language, Science, pedagogy in these subjects and so�-skills. 44 mo�vated primary teachers and 100 upper primary teachers from low income private and municipal schools were part of the Saksham Training program this year.

Outcome

The 144 teachers trained under the

Saksham Program in turn reached out

to 6000+ school students.

In partnership with BPCL the project is

been running successfully in 55

schools of Mumbai.

Community Based Program

India Digital Inclusion Program (IDI)

The India Digital Inclusion Program trains and equips socially and economically isolated young popula�on with the means of gaining produc�ve employment and accessing economic opportuni�es so they stay technically competent in the new global economy. The program offers Digital Sakshar training courses on digital literacy, so� skills, learning skills and workplace leadership skills at affordable prices and also provides career coaching, professional development guidance, on-the-job training opportuni�es and placement assistance.

Pratham InfoTech Founda�on's Computer Aided Learning and Digital Literacy as Life Skill Program was recognised at the Manthan Award South West India under the category for 'e educa�on and learning'. The award was handed to PIF by Mr. Vivek Sawant, Managing Director and CEO of Maharashtra Knowledge Corpora�on Limited (MKCL) !!

The program was appreciated for crea�ng a learning pla�orm that uses specially developed so�ware systems to introduce computer aided learning and digital literacy to school age children in underserved areas and for being run through a sustainable, par�cipatory model.

With great recogni�on comes greater responsibility and so PIF strives to work harder along its mission towards e educa�on for all!

Pratham
