Our goal is to “make disciples.” In the process our intention is to help, enable, and empower churches to be missional and outwardly focused churches. Our responsibility is to work with 105 local congregations and the community ministries that are connected with UMC in outwardly focused ministries. Through that process we work for leadership development in those areas -- whether that is leadership directly local church, board development or community ministry development -- working with them and not controlling.
Doris Clark
It is exciting to get a call from a member of a local church with this statement – “We were thinking about a new program while we are going through FCJ, and we thought of Metro Ministries to help us resource it.” The challenges of 2014 with board development, financial support for community ministries have been met with hard work, problem solving next steps to move forward in ministry.
Brightwood Community Center is moving forward with board development, strengthening programs for children and working with families with job search, resumes, and computer access.
Vida Nueva has tremendous ministries and programs that continue to grow and strengthen through staff and laity contributions. Financial sustainability for operating is a challenge that continues. Metro Ministries has provided grants to relieve deficits during the year.
Metro Ministries partnered with Central District with purchasing office space for Central District and Metro Ministries. The space will be occupied early 2015.
Metro Ministries partners with Central District on grants like Wesley UMC where Metro Ministries has oversight.
Metro Ministries partners with United Methodist Congregations in Central District with a Greater Indianapolis Habitat Build grant.
Metro Ministries continues to be a presence in Central Indiana with the Youth Grant Process, Leadership Development workshops, Lay Servant School leadership, speaking engagements for Faith Promise Mission Sundays, local church meetings and visits with Sunday worship services.
The Executive Director keeps in close contact with community ministries – serving on Brightwood Community Center, Vida Nueva UM Ministries, East Tenth UM Children & Youth, and NeighborIndyLink Boards.

Become a learning organization: It is the question, not the
answer, which makes us a learning organization.
