Dear friend of Girl Scouting, It’s been another great year at Girl Scouts Heart of Central California. Throughout 2013, we have witnessed time and again the impact the Girl Scout Leadership Experience is having on girls in our council. From summer camp to the Gold Award ceremony, we have seen girls in action—truly “doing anything” they want to achieve!

We are proud to serve in our leadership roles for GSHCC. The staff and board are committed to providing the best possible experience for our girls. Thank you for what you do to make this happen—for your time, talent and treasures. Without you, we could not serve the more than 28,000 girls in our council.

We are happy to celebrate 2013 and prepare for another year of being the premier leadership development organization for girls. With your support we’ll continue to build girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place.

Girl Scouts are connected to each other and their communities. Every day Girl Scouts in your community are sharing with others the benefits of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. They discover, connect and take action through innovative projects and programs, all while enjoying new friendships, fun troop activities and sisterhood.

Taylor planned and planted a sustainable orchard providing fresh fruit for a food bank.

Mehr created a documentary to educate about the importance of women’s history.

Amy revitalized a library’s teen section to encourage the use of the library and increase literacy.

Tess boosted the awareness of music education by pairing preschool students with high school music mentors.

Girls earn this award for defining sustainable solutions to root causes in their communities. Each award requires at least 80 hours of project work including research, team-building and creating a lasting impact.

The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest achievement in Girl Scouting.

A Girl Scout believes she can lead because she has done it.

Girl Scouts activates the leader within every girl, so that she is ready for the world. GSHCC is committed to helping every girl become a Girl Scout. The council provides an outreach program for all girls interested in having the Girl Scout experience where volunteer leadership has yet to be identified. We go to underserved schools, community centers, correctional facilities, housing communities, and shelters to serve girls who need Girl Scouts the most. In 2013, 8,658 girls participated in our outreach program at 200 sites.

Every girlcan be a Girl Scout.

Through quality programs and events, Girl Scouts learn to be resourceful problem solvers, brimming with innovative thinking and fresh perspectives.

1,160+ girls attended Camp Menzies; 103% of capacity.

2,400+ girls participated in STEM* programs.* Science, Technology, Engineering and Math

1,330+ girls experienced horseback riding.

1,010+ girls participated in 58 older girl trainings.

It's more than cookies; it’s a program that helps girls build a lifetime of skills and confidence. Here’s how the largest girl-run business in the world breaks down locally in 2013:

$1,624,642 in troop profits and $155,757 in cookie credits to girls

In 2013, Girl Scouts Heart of Central California served more than 28,000 girls and 10,000 adult volunteers in 18 Central California counties.
