As you read through the pages of th is annual repor t , my prayer is that i t becomes more than a repor t . My prayer is that we wi l l be lead in to worship and encouraged together by how God is at work in our midst . My prayer is that each of us wi l l take a s tep back to ce lebrate God’s goodness and grace—not our own abi l i t ies or accompl ishments. But my prayer is a lso that each of us wi l l take a s tep forward to join in wi th what God is doing in and through Eastbrook—not hindering what God wants to do wi th us.

Thank you for being a par t of th is special communi ty of Jesus Chris t known as Eastbrook Church. Le t ’s keep our eyes on Jesus and move forward, becoming “7” this year!

AFTER THIS I LOOKED, AND THERE BEFORE ME WAS A GREAT

MULTITUDE THAT NO ONE COULD COUNT, FROM EVERY NATION,

TRIBE, PEOPLE AND LANGUAGE, STANDING BEFORE THE THRONE

AND BEFORE THE LAMB. THEY WERE WEARING WHITE ROBES AND

WERE HOLDING PALM BRANCHES IN THEIR HANDS. AND THEY

CRIED OUT IN A LOUD VOICE: “SALVATION BELONGS TO OUR

GOD, WHO SITS ON THE THRONE, AND TO THE LAMB.”

This is a pic ture of heaven where people from around the world and ever y echelon of socie ty come together around God’s throne through the saving work of Jesus Chris t . That ’s why we’re aiming for a “7” at Eastbrook. We want to become a snapshot of that mul t i -e thnic Revelat ion 7 communi ty here on ear th.

GROWING DISCIPLESLAST YEAR WE SAW THE EVIDENCE OF GOD AT WORK IN ALL OF OUR MINISTRY AREAS AS NEW DISCIPLES WERE MADE AND CURRENT DISCIPLES GREW DEEPER IN THEIR LOVE AND UNDERSTANDING OF JESUS CHRIST.

“Having a spiritual mentor this year has given me account-ability, pointing me to Jesus so I learn how to rely on Him for everything in my life. Both my mentor and I are challenged and built up by the ways God is moving in each of us. We grow together.” -LAURA MEYER

Eastbrook families dedicated 30 CHILDREN to the Lord last year during weekend services.

A new ministry for young profes-sionals, YoPro, has had 9 EVENTS with 140+ PEOPLE gathering for worship, fellow-ship & teaching.

Last year, we had 18 CHILDREN

participate in Baptism & Communion classes, and

32 ADULTS were baptized in the freezing waters of Lake Michigan

at McKinley Beach.

NEXT YEAR: OUR VISION IS TO MAKE NEW DISCIPLES AND GROWCURRENT DISCIPLES DEEPER AS EVIDENCED BY INCREASED CONVERSIONS,BAPTISM, AND SMALL GROUP/TRIAD PARTICIPATION.

434 HOURS OF CHRIST-CENTERED SUPPORT were provided through various congregational care ministries: DivorceCare, GriefShare, Celebrate Recovery, Family to Family and Living Waters. OVER 200 PEOPLE were helped last year. 11 PEOPLE received personal, ongoing “distinctively Christian care” from our One to One Care ministry.

“Our theme for the year in Student Ministries was GROW. We challenged students—through teaching, worship, and weekly small groups—to embrace the importance of growing in Christ.” -PASTOR MARK LYNCH

Retreats are a great way to grow disciples. 150 WOMEN went on the Women’s Retreat, 125 STUDENTS went on the Fall Retreat, 160 EAST-BROOK STUDENTS + 15 STU-DENTS from City on a Hill) went on the Winter Retreat. 64 CHILDREN participated in the Winter Retreat.

MULTIPLYING LEADERSLEADERSHIP GROWTH WAS ONE OF OUR TOP PRIORITIES LAST YEAR AS WE SAW THE BEGINNING OF OUR MINISTRY RESIDENCY PROGRAM AND OUR SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM, AS WELL AS GROWTH IN MINISTRY LEADERS CHURCH-WIDE.

“God says He is faithful to all generations, and I am excited to see how

true this is. It is a privilege to work with our current residents,

who are in the category of “millennials”, and to

see their passion for Christ. This year’s

residents are filled with great, new ideas for how

to accomplish Christ’s mission in Milwaukee.”

-PASTOR RUTH CARVER

This past ministry year, we were blessed to have 10 INTERNS. AUDREY, MATT, MADDIE, NANCY and CHRISTINA worked during the year in local outreach, international outreach, and design. ABOUD, GRACE, ANDREA, DANNY & DREW served this summer in international outreach, design, communication, production, and accounting.

This was the pilot year for our new Ministry Residency program. We had 2 RESIDENTS serving in the areas of international outreach and students/worship. Our residents LAURA and MICHAL spent 3,120 COMBINED HOURS developing their calling, character and competency through their connection and contribution to Eastbrook Church. They each read approximate-ly 650 PAGES of theology and ministry readings for monthly ministry training and equipping sessions.

HOW IT WORKS: Each Ministry Resident is assigned a staff supervisor in their area of ministry, as well as a pastoral mentor of the same gender. They have ministry responsibili-ties, frequent training and equipping meetings, where they are taught by experts and do grad-uate-level studies. Ministry resident positions are now full-time, one-year commitments.
