HUNTINGTON LANDMARK CHORALE The Huntington Landmark Chorale would like to wish all our Landmark friends a very Happy New Year! TENNIS CLUB

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and are ready to start your New Year with a resolution to join us on the tennis courts for great exercise and

fellowship. We welcome new Huntington Landmark residents to join in on the fun. On the second Saturday of each month, we have our M&Ms where we offer free tennis clinics at 8:30am followed by social tennis at 9:30am. We

kick off the 2012 season with our Annual Membership Meeting on Tuesday, January 10th at 6:00pm in MPR#1, followed by our pizza party social. Please sign up for the pizza party, and pay your $10 annual dues, at the Recreation Office. There will be no M&M’s in January, but will resume in February.

WALKING An old tradition revived for the New Year! Walk to the Huntington Beach Pier, have breakfast at Ruby’s and walk home. Meet at the Recreation Center at the main entrance (outside by the mailbox) on Wednesdays at 8:00am. See you there on January 4, 2012.

SCRAPBOOK GROUP This group meets every Tuesday from 9:00am to 12:00pm in MPR2. There is no fee, and the sessions are open to all Landmark residents.

NEIGHBOR ASSIST We, volunteers, want to remind you that we lend wheelchairs, companion chairs, walkers, crutches, shower chairs, canes and potty chairs to Landmark residents. We also consider donations, so please call. Our telephone, (714) 960-2277, is answered daily, and we ask that you give us 24-hours notice when possible.

CABARET CROWD Another new year is upon us and our first party is a Valentine’s Day celebration, it is scheduled for February 11, 2012. The place is the Main Lounge. Room the time is 5:00pm the music is by Josh and the food will be catered by El Pollo Loco. The menu is Salad, Chicken, Mashed Potatoes & Gravy, Vegetables, Dessert, Coffee and Punch spiked and regular. The price for all of this is only $10.00. Our parties cater to all so bring your friend, neighbor or sweetheart and come on and party. As always we will have some great raffle prizes. See you there.

PARKINSON’S SUPPORT GROUP Since the normal 3rd Monday of both January and February land on holidays and the Huntington Landmark will not have rooms available, the support group meetings have been pumped back to January 9th and February 13th. Our Christmas luncheon was at Mimi’s, and everyone had fun. We had a gift exchange, and we celebrate Barbara King’s retirement as president of the Art Club. A slate of new officers for 2012 was approved. Art classes will resume in

THREADS OF LOVE

TOYMAKERS CLUB

Join the team of ladies and men that craft toys for children. Drop into the woodshop any Tuesday morning from 9:00am to 12:00pm for a tour. We’ll find tasks that match your interests. No experience - no problem! We’ll teach you how. And if you do have appropriate skills, we’ll put them to good use. Become a Toymaker-you are never too old to enjoy childhood! The Toymakers recycle aluminum cans and plastic bottles with a CA CASH REFUND label. Recycle containers are located at the entrances to the woodshop and in the Main Pool Area. We offer free bicycle and electric chair tire inflation on the second Tuesday of each month from 9:00am to 12:00pm at the parking lot entrance to the Woodshop.

Join us for our monthly meeting on the first Monday at 9:00am in the Computer/Sewing Room. Mark your calendar, and we will see you for Coffee, Donuts and information. CERAMICS CLUB Happy New Year Everyone. Start off the New Year with a new Hobby, Ceramics. Join us on any Tuesday morning and meet new friends and learn how to make one-of-a-kind items. Valentines Day is coming up, why not make something for your special someone? Beginners are welcome and you needn’t be artistic to join. Members are reminded that membership dues are now being collected by our Treasurer. Anyone, who hasn’t paid his or her dues by April 1, 2012 please pick up your supplies and any leftover Ceramics items as we are running out of space for our new Members. If dues are not paid by April 1, 2012, your supplies will be put out for the other members to share.

We made 46 Afghans for Mercy House and Beach City Interfaith Service, 37 sweaters for Knits for Kids, 75 beanies for operation Beanies for Services, and 500 doll blankets this year. We could not have accomplished this without your help. We meet every Tuesday at 9:30am to 11:00am in the Compute/Sewing room.

COMPUTER CLUB The Computer Club has scheduled a new series of Q&As for January through mid June of 2012. Please check the bulletin boards in the Main Lounge and the Computer Club. WATER WORKOUT

Water workout classes are held every Monday and Wednesday 12:30pm to 1:30pm and 6:00pm to 7:00pm in the Main Pool. Everyone is welcome! You may register anytime during the session at a pro-rated fee by calling (714) 550-0668.

ZUMBA Zumba is every Saturday from 9:00am to 10:00am in the Main Lounge with Adrianne Rosenfeld. Zumba is every Tuesday from 5:30pm to 6:30pm in the Main Lounge with Joseph. It is $3.00 per class. Remember to bring water, a towel, and it is best to wear older tennis shoes so there is less tread since Zumba does a lot of side steps.

HISTORY OF JAZZ

Trace the origins and the development of our own American Air from Jazz from the rhythm of Africa, through the slave fields in America. Hear and discuss the Dixieland, swing, and modern Jazz Styles.
