Mother’s & Infant’s Mortality

Denition’s:

Infant Mortality Rate :The number of death in infant under 1 year age

per 1000 live births in the same year.

Mother Mortality:

The death of the woman during pregnancy or within 42 days of termination of pregnancy

without regard to the duration of pregnancy or place of pregnancy provided that

the cause of death related to pregnancy & not for other reasons.

Infant Mortality rate = infant deaths < 1 year in year

×1000 Live births of the same year

Under 5 yrs Mortality =infant deaths < 5 year in year

×1000 Live births of the same year

Mother Mortality Rate = Number of detheas mothers in year
