Process, Instrumentation, Mechanical, Pipeline, Civil and Electrical disciplines, they were the

obvious choice for such an event. Assistant Professor Jiji K S presided over the programme. The

talk was very informative and it enlightened our students on the plethora of opportunities for

Electrical engineers in the field of Refineries/Petrochemical and other chemical industries.

Electrical engineers always have an important role to play in all stages of an oil refinery plant,

both on shore and off shore. Also, this company offers crash courses for students to bridge the

gap between what they learn inside the campus and how they are expected to apply that in real

time during a job. It can be assured that this two hour talk made the students ponder about their

careers and view the opportunities offered to them in a different perspective.

ISTE GEC chapter’s initiative to organize this industrial visit is sure to have been thanked many

a time by each student who took part in this industrial visit.

13. BOOK BANK

The idea was incepted out of the realization that every student would benefit tremendously by

possessing access to apt, concise, study material and that no teacher or library would be better

fitting to source the material than students who have already delved the subjects. Thus study

materials and notes for the students were collected and preserved. Text and note books were

collected from pass outs and seniors and made available to the students via the college office.

This, we believe, was really helpful to them at the very basic level.
