RsVP Weekly foR on-site WoRshiP: Second continues to evolve the ways in which we can best offer worship during the pandemic. We will continue to make decisions as we move forward in keeping with widespread practice, thus all future dates and service times are subject to change. stAycAtion BiBle school: For the month of July, Second will take part in a multi-generational program, focusing on the stories of Jesus at the table and cen-tering around our table life at home. Each Sunday in July at 12 noon, digital lessons will drop for children and adults on our church YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/secondpresbyterianchurchroanoke, and can be enjoyed anytime in the week that follows. A Staycation Bible School video playlist has been created for this event. On Sundays in July from 12:30-1:30 p.m., parents are invited to drive by the portico entrance to pick up their children's SBS kit for the week. Volunteers will be safely equipped to share these colorful kits, which will include all the craft sup-plies your family will need for the week of SBS ahead. 21-DAy RAciAl Justice chAllenge: A Second Presbyterian planning team has curated a list of resources for our church family in the form of a 21-Day Racial Justice Challenge. Each day you can watch a short video or read an article or ex-cerpt designed to address how racism continues to play out in our society and in our own thoughts and practices. In addition to these resources, we have compiled some spiritual practices so you can invite God into the conversation. You will also have an opportunity to join a Zoom small group to further reflect, discuss, and consider action steps with church members. the mountAin AVe funD: At its June meeting, the session selected The Moun-tain Ave Fund as the recipient of undesignated memorials and bequests that are $1,000 or less. This decision is for the next year. When the fund reaches 300k, it will begin annually distributing funds to local ministries that address emergency needs.

cAll foR VolunteeRs: One or more volunteers is needed to serve as Second Presbyterian’s representative for the Kids Soar Program. Kids Soar is a faith-based organization whose focus is on empowering children and families in the Roanoke Valley to end the cycle of poverty in their families through literacy education. Re-sponsibilities include preparing/coordinating and serving a meal to approximately 35 elementary age, at risk youth in the after school literacy program on the third Thursday of each month during the academic school year. 2-3 volunteers are also needed to assist with serving the meal and with clean-up. The time commitment is only one hour from 5:30-6:30 pm. SAfeTy ProTocol for on-SiTe WorShiP

1. On-site worship attendees are to arrive at least 10 minutes early and use the Portico Entrance off Mountain Avenue for entry.

2. For planning purposes, RSVPs are requested along with contact information. The sanctuary capacity is for now set at 70, and plans for overflow are in place.

3. Masks are to be worn and we ask that attendees bring their own (Any donated masks for those who forget to bring one would be appreciated).

4. Ushers will direct entry, exits and seating (use the Portico Entrance off of Mountain Ave. for entry).

5. Attendees are to sit in marked pews and there is to be six feet between families and individuals.

6. Nothing will be passed or handed between individuals. Donations can be placed in receptacles in the Narthex and Kirk Hall.

7. There will be no childcare, Meet and Greet or receiving line until further notice.

8. Those who have symptoms of any illness or who have been in contact with anyone with COVID-19 within two weeks are asked to worship online. We understand and support anyone’s decision to worship online, and especially encourage those who are older or have conditions that make them especially at risk to do so.

9. Facilities and surfaces will be thoroughly cleaned between services.

1 WorShiP: We are filled with joy and thanksgiving for the gift of being able to gather together for worship, with appropriate safety measures in place. Although worship has taken a different shape during this time, we are grateful for your understanding as we work our way through this season of transition. Our safety protocol for on-site worship can be found on the back of the bulletin. The text for the hymns have been included so that we may read or hum along in the spirit of worship.

2 locAl relief looSe PlATe offering: Second Presbyterian has created a Lo-cal Relief Fund in response to the economic impact of COVID-19. All funds col-lected will be given to local ministries meeting essential needs of our community, with particular emphasis on basic utilities and food. Funds are distributed weekly so as to have an immediate impact. To donate, designate a check or online gift to “Local Relief.” Donations can be placed in receptacles in the Narthex and Kirk Hall. Since the crisis began, we have donated over $26,000.00 to local relief.
