Annie Leibovitz-I like this photo because it shows so much about the film with only one photograph. For example, Johnny is dressed up as a pirate, which means that the film will be and unique and unconventional film, likely to be a hit due to the quality of an actor in it.

The seriousness of the background also shows that there will be a serious twist to the film, which also leaves an element to the imagination. This in turn means that the audience has looked longer at the photo than they have intended to, and thought deeply within the photo, from originally only having a glance at it.

I like this photo as it has a since of dependency and trust. The person that is in the air is dependent on the strength and skill of the man lifting him.

I think that as the background is the coast, it conveys a sense of mystery within the photo, and makes you go away with a deeper level of thought towards it, even if you hadn’t meant to. Stereotypically, you would expect the person being lifted to be a woman as she is lighter and more agile, which also leaves the photo with an element of diversity.

This photo is striking because of all the elements put together to make it stand out. For example, the rule of thirds is widely used, so that there is a huge emphasis the eyes and mouth. There is a broad depth of focus as her face is the only thing in the photo and that is what is needed to be focused on, which also puts the attention to her face, and gives the audience an idea that she is the main focus within the photo. The actress is wearing simple, light clothing and is in front of a simple dark background, which creates a contrast and makes all the attention focus on her face even if the audience didn’t mean to.

This photo is striking because of all the elements put together to make it stand out. For example, the rule of thirds is widely used so that there is an emphasis on the eyes and the swans neck. There is a narrow depth of focus to draw the attention to the right hand side as that section is the only thing in the photo and that is what is needed to be focused on. The actor is wearing simple, dark clothing and is in front of a simple dark background, which creates a contrast and makes all the attention focus on the swan and secondly, his face even if the audience didn’t mean to.

I find this photo striking as the skin is being pulled off as it makes the overall image so unique. There is a direct address as Meryl is making eye contact with the audience. The overall image has a close up of her face, making all the attention draw up to her face. The background is dark and simple so it is not distracting which makes her stand out, as well as having a white shirt to also kept the attention on her. There is a broad depth of field as Meryl’s face takes up most of the photo with no other image in the background so there is no need for a narrow depth of field. The lighting within the photo is subtle with warm colours to take the sinister edge off the photo.
