The seriousness of the background also shows that there will be a serious twist to the film, which also leaves an element to the imagination. This in turn means that the audience has looked longer at the photo than they have intended to, and thought deeply within the photo, from originally only having a glance at it.

I like this photo as it has a since of dependency and trust. The person that is in the air is dependent on the strength and skill of the man lifting him.

I think that as the background is the coast, it conveys a sense of mystery within the photo, and makes you go away with a deeper level of thought towards it, even if you hadn’t meant to. Stereotypically, you would expect the person being lifted to be a woman as she is lighter and more agile, which also leaves the photo with an element of diversity.

There is a broad depth of field as Meryl’s face takes up most of the photo with no other image in the background so there is no need for a narrow depth of field. The lighting within the photo is subtle with warm colours to take the sinister edge off the photo.
